“If I were the liberal daughter of a president elect I’d try to influence him toward my views too.”

Let her try all she wants. I trust Trump will nod his head to her, thank her for her efforts & do what he planned on doing anyway.

Let’s find something real to freak out about next time lol.

You contend that Ivanka was forced to convert. I disagree with that.

While I’m not privy to their lives (I’ve never met Ivanka or her husband, let alone gotten close enough to either for them to have the confidence to confide a private matter to me), I’m quite sure that Ivanka was not forced to do anything. She was converted according to the tenants of Modern Orthodox Judaism - which specify that any conversion must be voluntary, and also NOT done in contemplation of marriage (because that would mean that the conversion was not sincere, because there was at least one other motivation involved). Also, because of that, Kushner’s kids would not be Jewish if Ivanka’s conversion wasn’t genuine. Note that Kushner’s extended family are extremely Orthodox. Note also that Ivanka has publicly stated that she believes Judaism to be a “beautiful religion.”

I also question whether Ivanka Trump can be forced to do anything, particularly if she believed differently from what was being “forced” upon her. She is an extremely bright young lady, and a very capable and determined one with an extremely wealthy father to back her up if (for some reason) she couldn’t handle herself (and, frankly, I doubt that she needed or wanted her father’s help in this matter). IOW, Kushner didn’t force her to do anything. FYI, she keeps the Sabbath and keeps kosher - all on her own.

“He adopted her special childcare subsidy.”

Yes, he did. We better impeach him on his 2nd day in office for that & have her drawn & quartered for her horrible influence peddling.

I bet she can convince him not to build the wall, raise taxes, keep ocrapo-care, cave into China/Mexico. Is Alex Jones on this??? What have we done, electing him? Oh noes, lets freak out over & over again...

Have a nice day :)

Seriously. I’ve enjoyed the discussion. Have a great rest of the day. Peace :)

Please

It was a condition to marry into his family...the verb forced was rhetorical

I’ve seen this all my life

If its that important to his family then skip the shiksa blondie and marry a nice Jewish girl and there are some cause I’ve been there..

I’ would never make a Jewish girl convert to my church as a precondition and I came relatively close twice to exactly that with two different Jewish girls

That’s not how Christianity works...you don’t just assume a heritage and exclusive identity...it’s something way beyond that and nor is it exclusive...it’s universal all of to us who want it anyhow if God had his way

If it had happened the fair thing woulda been daughters get the bat mitzvah and boys go with me and when they reach adulthood they will do what they want anyhow

Ain’t saying it’s perfect but it’s fair especially considering matrilineal Jewish way of thinking on who’s Jewish or not

This is where our different religions truly diverge

Accepting Christ has zip to do with marriage or identity

Don’t get me wrong...I applaud Jews wanting to keep their extensive heritage intact since Abe trekked from Ur but then marry your own kind

I’m not backing down for my disdain of Christian girls who throw away their salvation/faith simply to satisfy groom family demands

Whether Jewish or Hindu or Baha’i or God forbid Muslim

Lastly

Not knowing personally that which we are commenting on here has never stopped anyone..lol...and you know that

There would be nobody here otherwise.

That’s pretty kind

I’m not keen on any lip service to climate change

And I agree Ivanka likely had not much Christian base anyhow which is likely not her fault

Apologiese accepted any time now:

“It’s no secret that Ivanka Trump is very committed to having a climate policy that makes sense for our country and for our world,” Gore said in an interview Monday night on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes.”

“And that was certainly evident in the conversation that I had with her before the conversation with the president-elect,” he added. “I appreciate the fact that she’s very concerned about this.”

Gore said it was his “own concern” with the “climate crisis” that prompted his powwow with the Trumps. After the election, Trump backed away from his earlier statements that climate change was a “hoax” invented by the Chinese.

Gore said he’s “protecting” the details of his conversation with the president-elect , in part, to assure he’ll have Trump’s ear in the future.

But he characterized his meeting with Trump as “interesting.”

“I do think it was productive,” he said. “The meeting was a good one, I thought. We covered a lot of ground.”

Ivanka needs to tend to her knittin’ and stay out of USA policy.

Sure explains why Palin wouldn’t be allowed anywhere near Interior.

Just wait until we get a load of Ivanka’s energy policy.

This morning was the second time that Ivanka quite possibly will be “playing the role of First Lady”. Not likin’ that. It’s creepy. I’m beginning to feel that Melania has a great deal of disdain for her new country and that living in the White House would be slumming.

I don’t see that.

What I see is creepy liberal ambition on Ivanka’s part.

I think Melania has a great deal of love for her new country. But a few times during the campaign I've gotten the feeling that she can't break through the Donald/Ivanka bond. Early in the campaign he used to mention Ivanka in every speech, not Melania. I think someone told him to cut that out because it stopped. (He still didn't mention Melania).

Anyway, I don't think there's any reason for Ivanka to play first lady. I fully expect Melania, who'll be 45 minutes from the WH for the first few months, to be the one hosting WH events and travelling abroad with the President.

Besides, I think Ivanka has her eye on the chief of staff post. :^)

On that one we absolutely agree. The entire internet would be a quiet and lonely place if people only commented about those people and subjects of which they had direct knowledge.

Regarding Ivanka and her husband: You know that neither of us is capable of judging them - we don’t have the knowledge about their backgrounds, what was going through their minds, etc., etc. Only G-d has that right and that knowledge.

However, I’d agree that way too many people marry outside of their own religion, to the discomfort (and sometimes anguish) of themselves, their existing families and their children - when there are some perfectly good choices within their own ranks. I absolutely agree with you about pressure from families - it works both ways, of course, but I do agree with you about not marrying outside if that’s such a problem. But I have to get back to my original contention that Ivanka SEEMS to be a very intelligent person with a very strong personality, who probably can’t be bullied into much, if anything. Of course, I could be wrong - if so, she wouldn’t be the first or the last person to display one set of characteristics in public, while having different ones in private.

All things considered, it was obviously her choice.

On the matrilineal descent issue: both Judaism and Christianity have the same view - the religion of the mother is the birth religion of the child. That’s a simple issue - everyone knows who the mother is, but not so with the father (well, at least not until genetic testing came about recently). A simple solution to a simple problem, and pretty just and sensible if you ask me - given that females are approximately 50% of the population across all religions.

Who cares what the network is. There is AlGore, our former VP, speaking publicly about his meeting with the Trumps. If the situation were otherwise, first he wouldn’t have met with the two of them, second it wouldn’t fit what we know of liberal Ivanka and third the Trumps would refute it.

I know who here is delusional—and it isn’t me.

Wow! A internet forum mental health diagnosis for FREE!!! I’m sure this will change my life forever. /s

“Who cares what the network is.”

People who want real news & not progressive propaganda.

You keep believing Algore along with MSNBC & I will continue to trust Trump 1st. FYI, I trust you more at this moment than Cankles or Mark Levin by a minuscule amount. Have a great day!
