Kellogg Company Goes to War With Breitbart. When Will CEOs Learn?
Investor Place ^ | December 1, 2016 | Lawrence Meyers

Posted on 12/01/2016 12:05:40 PM PST by LouieFisk

You would think some VP of communications somewhere would read my columns from time to time, so they could encourage senior management never to speak on any political topic, or even mention a political issue indirectly.

The reason is that it guarantees that 40% to 50% of the country will disagree with the issue or opinion under discussion, and boycott that company’s products.

Yep, time to widely proclaim the poor nutritional value of many Kellogg’s products.

In promoting their ‘inclusiveness and diversity’, Kellogg denies to do business with someone who simply disagrees with them....claiming they don’t have the same values.

....And Kelloggs can’t see the hypocrisy in this.

Their sales will never recover.

I’m smiling ear to ear.

If you don’t know why, you don’t know the history of Kellogg...

Mix politics and retail consumer products. The Dixie Chicks business model.

Is this what they are teaching MBA candidates now?

Great. The old saw about "who pissed in your corn flakes" is answered. They come pre-flavored from the manufacturer.

Try Post cereals or Malt O’Meal cold cereals in the bag.

General Mills hates biblical marriage.

Speaking out isn’t the issue. A CEO assuming that he represents the political leanings of a whole company, then acts upon it by dogging his own customers is egregious.

Raheem Kassam, Breitbart’s Editor in-Chief in London, hosted their radio show this morning and alluded to something I’ve thought about for some time. For years, American corporations, in the name of “social responsibility” and “social justice” have bent over backwards to accommodate complaints from the Lefties and have done so historically without a peep from conservatives.

The first such instance I’m aware of was the CBS production of “The Guns of Autumn”, an anti-hunting documentary in which the Chrysler Corporation bought a lot of advertising for the Dodge Truck Division. While it turned out that Chrysler was probably misled by CBS about the nature of the show, the sales of Dodge trucks were affected for years.

The mantra for years has been, “Conservatives don’t ‘do’ [organized] boycotts, we vote with our wallets.” That is clearly no longer the case. Companies like Target, Starbucks and others - now joined by Kellogg - are beginning to feel the impact of the wrath of Americans on their bottom line. I just checked the Breitbart web site and over 150,000 people have signed Breitbart’s petition to boycott Kellogg’s; I can’t imagine that ALL owners of Kellogg stock are Lefties...

I think Kellog’s doing this has done us a favor. Just think of all the fructose sugar, GMO’s, additives, etc. that if you boycott you are not going to subject your body or your children’s bodies to. I pray that other advertisers will pick up the lost advertising revenue for Breitbart.

Just read about this food, which I use to gobble up, and what it does to your body. . .www.mercola.com or www.draxe.com

For cereal eaters who wish to boycott Kelloggs:

Malt-O-Meal, and I think one or two other manufacturers sell several clone cereals that taste just the same and cost about 1/4 the price of Kelloggs brands. And Walmart (yeah, I know) has a store brand ´Pop Tart´ that is just as good, and less expensive.

As a committed cheapskate, I haven´t bought a Kelloggs product for years, so they won´t notice ME boycotting them.
But maybe they will notice it if you guys do.

Just because they make millions each year, doesn’t mean they have any sense.

Malt-o-Meal makes equivalent and in many cases superior alternatives to Kelloggs cereals. Walmart carries them.
