No one listened to Tom Vilsack.
As agriculture secretary during the entire Obama administration, the former Iowa governor has for years been telling anyone who will pay attention farmers, members of Congress, even Hillary Clinton that Democrats need a better message for rural America. And hes spent most of his tenure focusing on rural development, trying to revitalize areas that ultimately voted for Republican Donald Trump in this years presidential election.
The Democratic Party, in my opinion, has not made as much of an effort as it ought to, to speak to rural voters, Vilsack said Tuesday in an interview with The Associated Press. Whats frustrating to me is that we actually have something we can say to them, and we have chosen, for whatever reason, not to say it.

And they try to undermine what would otherwise be the uniting “redneck” attitude. Which Donald Trump has aimed square at, though using different words. The ballcap symbolism. His WWF (now WWE) show wrestling background. His unashamed display of riches. Technically a New York City boy but close to a hick by culture — this is not some foo-foo New Yorker.
Well me and my buddy came up with this one in Illinois (!) 6 years ago. Tried to market it before, but not after things started getting earnest with Donald Trump (except that I did suggest it to the Trump campaign, which for whatever reason was underwhelmed — but again maybe they weren’t envisioning their after-game either).

Hey, that’s really a very fine song. As a lifelong musician myself I gotta give ya’ props.
PS. I started out in a country western band about 40 years ago. I play just about anything these days at a pro level and am freelancing, sort of a hired gun. I get a lot more offers then I can accept. It’s nice to be in demand. Too bad we’re not closer we could definitely jam.
Again, I enjoyed your song and will be sharing it around.
Freegards.
Hey thanks, I am very grateful for the props. Maybe some day a lot of rednecks (of all colors) will be singing this thing in America. Song writers don’t typically get paid anything but peanuts, but if they can wangle their way into something like Nashville contracts, maybe the prospects are livable? Also my buddy wants still to be a performing star, at age 57.
I’ve been one weird cowboy, so to speak. I smelled this stuff coming down the road before most people did (though I’ve heard of at least one Christian seer who got it even further in advance than I did). I’m the kind of guy who doesn’t mind farm smells, at least, as long as it isn’t overpowering. But I have made my living hammering on computer keyboards.
Anyhow, thanks again, with much gratitude. I never know what tomorrow will bring. The good Lord will definitely see me through no matter whether in earthly terms I make it big time or small.
Born under sign of Taurus. Born again under sign of Cross. So maybe I am bullish too....
Vilsack? Wasn’t he Secretary of Agriculture when the Pigford
scandal occurred? What a ripoff of the American taxpayers!
Yes Sec’y Vilsack, the rats do have a message for rural, white voters: die ASAP. Don’t know that it’s going to gain them a lot of votes, though.
I read all the way through the thread and see no mention of bitter clingers. Lol
Message? Messages are not what people expect from their ‘rat rulers. Just have the gov’t quit “helping”.
Translation—start lying to the dumb rural people. Then you can do whatever you want!
That is what the Democrats call “outreach”!
They produce as many geniuses as anyone else.
Not trying to sound smug or anything, but I am a member of the science profession, which draws incredibly bright people. I've been to a number of scientific conferences. In most cases, when a scientist talks about his/her work at one of these conferences, there are not a lot of people who watch--maybe a few dozen, mostly people working in the same field.
Nobel Prize winners always fill a room, but that is because of name recognition.
However, the most popular scientific talk I ever saw, in front of a crowd that was standing room only, was presented by a grizzly guy in plaid shirt and jeans, leather belt, cowboy boots and cowboy hat. And he was talking about his research with cow poop.
Genius redneck, indeed.
So what is going to be the final straw in Kalifornja? To me it appears that state is lost or, when he rest of the country starts to flourish and they keep falling, will it be a sudden and dramatic change?
I look forward to enforcement of immigration laws and the resulting pushback to the sanctuary issue and the resulting response as outlined here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bj6-dhCY-0
With the Democrats again choosing Pelousy to be the image of more of the same from them, the 2018 mid-terms could be a death blow to their “caucus” as they like to describe it in over inflated terms.
That link was not what I wanted, here is the segment from Lou Dobbs.

Democrats ought to shut up for once. The do not listen. They are dictators by nature, so the feel like they didn’t dictate the right narrative. They need to find another lie, another mischaracterization, another spin, another “tea party” “alt-right” “extremist” label that will fool us.
Narrative. That is their entire world.
Midwesterners want real action, not another spin job.
....not enough $$$$$ in fly over country for Hilda and others to bother... stopping in Hollywood once a month for a year is enough to bring in several millions. Self adulation is contagious.
Hillary lost this election as much in the suburbs (where Trump did well), and even in cities (where many blacks didn’t vote for her). Rural populations were critical, but by definition they are smaller/more scattered numbers. On election night they were really focused on what Hillary needed from urban areas and surrounding suburbs; PA was a great case in point.

You mean knuckle dragging, uneducated, islamaphobic, homophobic, inbred, gun toting, bible thumping, racist bigots.
VileSack is down with that he's just telling everyone that the left needs better lies to continue the ethnic cleansing. To be fair, the Iowa GOP and their shiny-pants Polk County brigade have been assiduously depopulating rural and small-town Iowa for short-term profits while the Democrats have been doing it for political purposes. VileSack's ignorance of agriculture may be legendary, but he and his spouse do know a thing or two about lobbying and being part of the Party apparatus (which made him the perfect Sec of Ag in an Obama administration, e.g., the Pigford "fix"). Given his accomplishments and abilities, rest assured that when he issues a statement like this, someone - occasionally it is his wife - has their hand up his ass in the role of ventriloquist.
Look for a "new crop" of agitprop to sucker the rednecks, because Tom has essentially announced that they are focus-grouping it.
