Trump to Announce Carrier Plant Will Keep Jobs in U.S.
NYTimes/2016/11/29/ ^

Posted on 11/29/2016 4:47:20 PM PST by springwater13

From the earliest days of his campaign, Donald J. Trump made keeping manufacturing jobs in the United States his signature economic issue, and the decision by Carrier, the big air-conditioner company, to move 2,000 of them from Indiana to Mexico was a tailor-made talking point for him on the stump.

On Thursday, Mr. Trump and Mike Pence, Indiana’s governor and the vice-president elect, plan to appear at Carrier’s Indianapolis plant to announce they’ve struck a deal with the company to keep a majority of the jobs in the state, according to officials with the transition team as well as Carrier.

Mr. Trump will be hard-pressed to alter the economic forces that have hammered the Rust Belt for decades, but forcing Carrier and its parent company, United Technologies, to reverse course is a powerful tactical strike that will rally his base even before he takes office.

In exchange for keeping the factory running in Indianapolis, Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence are expected to reiterate their campaign pledges to be friendlier to business by easing regulations and overhauling the corporate tax code. In addition, Mr. Trump is expected to tone down his rhetoric threatening 35 percent tariffs on companies like Carrier that shift production south of the border.

Goodwin and Amanna. Same factory, same parts. Only diff between them are the name plates. If you go for their heatpumps get the “hard start” option. Adds about $120 bucks, but the other manufacturers include it and it really is needed. Other than that, good units. (Hard start adds a capacitor to kick the motor over to start the compressor. When it is cold, they need a lil extra oomph to start.)

Second draft:

Trump: How are you doing Mr. President
Obama: I’m still president so this Carrier thing is part of my legacy, right?

President-elect Trump is making the kenyan look so pathetic. Obama sits int eh White House and watches ESPN while Trump wins for us. Obama has traded his entire life on the fact you can’t call a black person lazy.

Lord yes. Please let that happen. The EPA forced the textile company that employed my dad for 20 years to close with no warning. His stupid union negotiated a contract that cost him him his pension. 30 years later they still maintain control over the the land the company used. May President Trump forever change the culture of the federal government.

Trump needs to find an old Texas Ranger to head up the US Marshals Service.

If it is so stupid than why do other countries do it?

Because other countries are stupid. That is why America is traditionally an exceptional country. America has been the exception to the rule. Most of the world is socialist or totalitarian which are stupid economic/political systems. The fact is most countries are economically stupid. And tariffs are a mild, but good, good example. Tariffs don't hurt anyone except the country putting up the tariffs. They are like shooting yourself in the foot.

Anyway, thank God Trump is on the right track here becsue what he is attacking are the DIRECT root causes of business leaving America. Tariffs do nothing about the root causes and only make matters worse.

All of those jobs being saved, and all of those companies not moving out of the country, and all of that economic growth...

All happening before Trump takes office...

And...

It’s quite possible that the economic growth before the inauguration, will be mostly during the first 2 months of Trump being “president-elect”, and also while Obama is 3 months away from being sent packing...

Which will lead Obama and democrats to claim all the credit for the good news, and also claiming that without Hillary to continue with Obama’s economic policies, that the economy will stop performing as good as Obama left it.

.
All compressor motors use two capacitors.

Its called “capacitor start / capacitor run.”

Without them they would just trip the high head switch and never start at all.

Parent company United Technologies:

“United Technologies collects about $5.6 billion in annual revenue from U.S. government contracts, according to company filings, which is equal to about 10% of its overall revenue. The government also pays for nearly $1.5 billion of the company’s annual research and development spending.”

“get the “hard start” option” “Goodwin and Amanna. Same factory,”

Yup...we had one installed in our first condo..11 years later was fine when we sold it. Just bought our second one for our current home.

It is a larger start capacitor. Substantially larger.

Without them they would just trip the high head switch and never start at all.

Without the hard start kit when it gets really cold, that is exactly what happens.

I don’t think Trump ever wanted to slap 35% tariffs on U.S. goods manufactured in Mexico.

He wanted to make it unprofitable to manufacture down there and bring good back here to sell.

That wouldn’t take anywhere near 35% tariffs to accomplish.

I prefer companies with with Trump with the attitude that keeping jobs in the U.S. is better for everyone.

Look folks, with more people working in the United States, what are sales going to do? They will go up.

Imagine that...

“ith the attitude that keeping jobs in the U.S. is better for everyone.”

That’s what has been lost in this whole argument. It is good for everyone if the jobs stay here. And I have no problem subsidizing some industries as long as we are creating good jobs and are exporting things like energy. We should be supporting American industry and training American workers for those industries. No more visas and refugees until the last American worker has a job.

Get in there early ... high school .. train students for the jobs that will be available ...on a small scale St. Petersburg does this with ...partnerships between local industries and trade schools. It can be done...we just need the will and the push from the top!
