Ron Glass, a centerpiece on the 70's sitcom "Barney Miller" has died ... according to his rep. Glass had recently battled with various illnesses, and was an active member in the L.A. Buddhist community. He passed away at his home Friday, where'd he'd been watched by a caretaker. Glass received an Emmy nomination for his role as Detective Ron Harris on the show ... he also made appearances on the original Hawaii Five-O, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Firefly and more recently on an episode of CSI in 2014. RIP
“Whoopi”
Goldberg isn’t her real surname.
Her birth name is Caryn Elaine Johnson.
Yes again
It was a joke
Glass was his real name though
RIP Mr.Glass
Condolences to family and friends of Ron Glass.
NO! Shepard Book gone?!
He was really terrific in Barney Miller, but I really loved his character in Firefly. I realize that the lines were written for him, but it was the actor that really brought the character to life, and made him real.
Mark
He was in a movie called Houseguest filmed here in Pittsburgh in the early 90’s. His character was a spot-on premonition of Obama.
When I was a kid I shared a lift ride with him while skiing in Park City, seemed like a really nice guy.
Ron Glass was the only reason I gave it a chance, but my instincts proved right (no fault of Mr. Glass). RIP, Ron Glass.
I liked Firefly and the movie Serenity, a lot.
He played a good role in them.
He was great on Barney Miller too.
Ron Glass was the only reason I gave it a chance, but my instincts proved right (no fault of Mr. Glass). RIP, Ron Glass.
You and I are among the few people that watched this show. I wanted to like it, and thought Ron Glass was a good choice to play Felix. After seeing two or three episodes, however, I knew the program would never make it. There is now another version of "The Odd Couple" on CBS starring Matthew Perry as Oscar and Thomas Lennon as Felix. I started watching this show expecting to hate it, but it's actually quite good. Thomas Lennon is excellent as Felix, doing justice to Tony Randall's legacy in the role. They kept just enough aspects of the original TV version without being a carbon copy of the Tony Randall/Jack Klugman show. They've also introduced new supporting characters which work well with the premise.
