If they wish to do away with the electoral college, I would agree with them. But the count of this election is a perfect example of why it was put in. Since Hilary appears to have won the popular vote, it displays the problem with using it.
When the settlers expanded west in our early years, they settled into villages, towns, and ultimately, states with like thinking people and small needs from the government. And as our country prospered, those needs changed but grew.
In time, those states elected their own people to work with the public to assist their population to continue to prosper. But when some of the states took over the house with nothing but numbers, the high population states took over the needs of the little states, in way too many occurrences, cutting them off. So the small states did their own thing until the federal government, now allotting the populous states more power were dictating to the states.
Hilary took 21 states, the populous ones. And took the popular vote. But did she represent the country? Nope. So, do away with the electoral college. It’s a stacked deck.
We have 50 states in the union. We also have the District of Columbia, Washington DC, which is represented in Congress. That makes 51 accounted states. Why not give each state 1 electoral vote to be determined by the majority of counties. This is a better representation of the actual vote based upon the needs of the whole and not just the numbers of the populous states.
We are a union of states. Each state and D.C. have their own separate elections. Whoever wins the popular vote in each state wins the state. We are not just one centralized nation; we are a collection of different colonies that decided to join together under some very specific rules and each of which still have separate interests and the right to pick the leader it wants.
These leftists essentially want to abolish the concept of the United States and our federal system of government. The more they illegitimately concentrate power in D.C. and try to stamp out any differences and independence across the United States, the less freedom and power of self-determination people have.
If we are going to change the electoral college, lets make it better not worse. Lets make it fifty persons one state one vote.
If nothing else, it makes it easier to decide where to build walls. Right around their cities.
Good post! Still I came right back around to my thought just above, build a wall around their cities and tell them to grow their own food. :)
Might get 40 million candidates and the one with the most votes over 100 wins.....
This horse crap would insure Calif and N.Y. would effectively stuff the ballot.
this is crappola.
