Neoliberalism’s epic fail: The reaction to Hillary Clinton’s loss...
Salon ^ | Nov 19, 2016 | Conor Lynch

As pollsters collectively changed their predictions and news pundits started to resemble confused and dejected children, the fight-or-flight response kicked in for countless viewers. Hearts pounded, stomachs turned and some of the more privileged liberals started seriously considering whether to flee the country in the face of a national nightmare that had just become a reality (privileged, because the average American doesn’t have the resources to just pack up and run at will).

“…assured of a Clinton victory by the media had turned into shock and panic — if not yet full-blown despair. As pollsters collectively changed their predictions and news pundits started to resemble confused and dejected children…”

The Leftist media and pollsters initially ‘predicted’ easy victory for Clinton with the express purpose of discouraging Republican voters from showing up at the ballot box. Period. Once that and other dirty-trick tactics [e.g. voter fraud, biased reporting, stuffing ballot boxes, celebrity vitriol] failed, the media had to try to repair their cred by reporting actual results -- instead of what they hoped would happen. Indeed as the election drew near, the venom spewing forth from Clinton campaign and their sycophants in the press betrayed increasing panic.

***

“…the impotence of modern liberalism and its monumental failure to stop an unhinged and thoroughly unqualified demagogue like Trump.”

The fundamental impotence of the Left is the fact that they are dead-wrong on nearly every issue of foreign and domestic policy.

Government is, in reality, not the solution for everything. Free markets are more productive, democratic and just than central planning.

Appeasing and apologizing to those who hate us only emboldens further violence. Islamic terrorism is not a creation of grievances perpetrated by America; it is a creation of strictly adhering to the terrorists’ interpretation of the fundamental tenets of Islam as explicitly spelled out in the Koran and Hadith. They would hate, rape and slaughter us wholesale no matter what we do. Healing our ‘sins’ against those who hang homosexuals, stone women to death, mutilate female genitalia, rape/behead little girls, etc. will not change their behavior one iota.

Not addressed in this editorial is the contribution of the cadre some call the RINOs to this impotence. They are hell-bent upon pushing the Party of Abraham Lincoln away from the principles of freedom, individual empowerment and equality under the law under which it was founded. Instead, they wish to emulate an European “conservative” party in which the main platform is that they could more efficiently manage a social welfare state.

Ted Cruz was far more qualified than Trump and could have won the nomination with the leadership’s backing, but the RINOs hate and fear the Texas Senator even more. [But make no mistake, the Democrats and Left would have been just as frothingly hysterical if Cruz had been the GOP nominee instead.]

The RINOs are obsessed with the failed tactic of appealing to the squishy middle. They take the heart of their voting base for granted -- and disdain them, in fact. Instead, they think the future of the Republican Party lies in playing the Democrats’ game of targeting demographics for government favors instead of making the case that liberty offers universal benefit, regardless of skin-color.

Finally, if we’re going to be saying that Trump is “an unhinged and thoroughly unqualified demagogue” -- and thus imply that his supporters are stupid and gullible -- we must, in fairness then, consider what Hillary Clinton represented and the nature of her support.

America has declined in all respects under Obamanation and Hillary promised more or the same. The middle class shrank to below 50% of total population under his watch. Many of those who were on the edge of self-sufficiency were pushed into the ranks of government dependency as those drawing taxpayer-funded benes reached all-time highs. The percentage of working-age, able-bodied people who had good-paying full-time jobs shrank to levels unseen since our nation was recovering from Jimmy Carter.

In the private sector, only large corporations [that can afford to pay lobbyists to agitate for legislation that would protect them from smaller competitors] would benefit from fascist, plutocrat, collectivist policies favored by the Hard Left. Hence, the stock market has been strong under Democrat control. Conglomerates also benefited from illegal immigration increasing as wages have been held flat across-the-board under an already existing labor surplus.

And if we want to talk demagogue, Hillary Clinton, with ample aid from a blatantly biased media, spreads mostly lies, distortions, propaganda and misinformation to push her unworkable agenda forward. Observing her publicly address important subject matter, it is clear that she herself doesn’t believe a word she says -- and that she disdains her own supporters. She lacks her husband’s charisma -- and his talent to lie convincingly.

Hence, it is difficult to make the case that Hillary is not a demagogue herself nor that her supporters are anything less than delusional True Believers.

***

“…Elite liberals who vowed to leave America if Trump was elected, which includes a slew of celebrities, are those who would be most insulated from the impact of a Trump presidency — unlike working people and seniors who stand to lose their healthcare, children of immigrants who may soon see their families torn apart, or poor people of color who could face heightened persecution under the already racist criminal justice system.”

Actually, a Hillary Presidency would have continued the aforementioned harm wrought upon the poor and middle class that has been in progress these past eight years -- and the elites would have continued to benefit at everyone else’s expense. Obamacare has increased our premiums and co-pays while shrinking coverage and choices of insurance providers. The percentage of new jobs has flipped from the majority being full-time to part-time. This is a direct result of employers being forced to reduce their labor forces’ hours below the Obamacare threshold in order to keep their labor costs at the same levels as before. Jobs are hence being rationed. We are told that the unemployment rate has shrank, apparently with the hope that we are too blind to see that we cannot get gainful employment as easily as before.

And insofar as race relations and the justice system is concerned, Obama has joined others who politically and economically benefit from fanning the flames of discord by fraudulently racializing violent incidents between people who happened to be of different skin-colors. He has repeatedly insinuated himself before any charges were filed or evidence presented. He chose sides based upon demographics, rather than evidence, resulting in the absurd irony of black preachers calling for lynchings based upon skin-color.

The outrage at this false narrative has yielded a catastrophic increase in racially motivated violence [viz. the #knockOUTgame] that has targeted the most innocent and vulnerable -- and has been entirely one-sided. People who would otherwise not be inclined to be racially prejudiced are rightfully wary of being dragged out of one’s vehicle and being maimed or killed merely for being the wrong color in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Further, the fact that for every one black killed by the police, forty are murdered by each other has been completely ignored, because it does not fit a very dangerous and cynical narrative. The police understand that they are expected to be targets and take blame only. The targeted demographic have been hoodwinked to think that they are entitled to fight and/or run from the police -- who are becoming increasingly demoralized as they elect to slow down enforcing the law and protecting the innocent, rather than put themselves, their partners and their families needlessly at risk.

Hillary made it clear in her campaign that she would carry on Obama’s tradition of attacking the police and blaming Whitey.

***

“…Not in their wildest dreams could the racist, sexist, misogynistic and xenophobic buffoon defeat the most qualified and deserving presidential candidate in history — no less the first women candidate.”

It is truly amazing how Trump was not regarded in this way prior to running for PoTUS.

On what planet could Hillary Clinton be considered “qualified and deserving” given her consistent record of incompetence and malfeasance? She sold our National Security to those who hate us. She denied requested increased security before, ordered military assets to stand-down during, and lied about the cause of the Islamic terrorist attack in Benghazi after. She hosted Official State Dept. communications on a private server in anticipation of having something to hide from the American people. She didn’t care that this would make sensitive communications more vulnerable to America’s enemies. She destroyed documents after they were subpoenaed. Years earlier, she gleefully participated in persecuting her sexual-predator husband’s many victims if they dared open their mouths.

Furthermore, if a conservative Republican woman or minority dares to seek public office, the Left has repeatedly demonstrated that no vicious sexist or racial slur would be beneath them. So much for encouraging the breaking of any glass ceiling!

***

That is about all I can stomach of the Author’s wrong-headed screed. In response to Trump’s successful campaign, the Left has decided to become even more dogmatic and obtuse. Unfortunately for them, the American people -- having been subjected to at least two generations of public school indoctrination and media/entertainment industry propaganda -- are still not as stupid and ignorant as they hope we would be.

They fail to appreciate the significance and reason why Trump managed to win the election over the vehement objections of the leadership of both major Parties as well as the pablum the elites who control information have been spoon-feeding us during the election cycle.

Hopefully then, as liberals bare their fangs in the wake of Trump’s election, the American people will see the Left for who they really are and what they stand for as we embrace freedom and undertake to rebuild our nation.

I’d honestly suggest that the collective “we” do not tell them why they lost. Let them figure it out in a few generations or so.

“we” do not tell them why they lost.

Why not? They never believe anything we deplorables tell them.

The surreal night concluded with Canada’s immigration website crashing from too much traffic, as if every alt-right Twitter troll’s fantasy had come true.

What about Mexico's immigration website?

Why would you take a chance on that? It won’t change their hearts - it would just change their lying schtick....

What they have is a disease that can only be cured by real life, unadulterated by government support, liberal friends and an education that isn’t worth the price of a roll of toilet paper.

How effed up do liberals have to be to go so freakin’ nuts over a multiple felon losing the election? And she is a multiple felon, the evidence is overwhelming. Just because we have a corrupt Justice dept. doesn’t mean she is isn’t. She knew damn well what she was doing, before she ever stepped one foot into the office of Secretary of state, she took a mandated class on security procedures and laws. She willfully and deliberated moved classified info out of a secure location, and intent is not even required for a conviction, just gross negligence is. How many people lost their lives because of her INTENT? The woman IS a multiple felon and that is just ONE crime of hers. THAT is who these fools are crying about because she isn’t President? These people need a good bitch slap across the head.

The concept that Cruz could have won the nomination with help from the GOP supposes that Cruz could survived the onslaught of the general election. Cruz would have mopped the floor with Hillary in the debates, but would he have gone all the way with bringing up Clinton's past and present behaviors? I don't know.

I always figured a President Trump wouldn't be nearly as conservative as candidate Trump. So far I am very pleasantly surprised at the cabinet talk. Attorney General Sessions, Secretary of Defense Mattis? Throw in a Secretary of State that doesn't mince words about the threat of radical Islam and we may get somewhere. Give me Rudy Giuliani as the head of DHS and unleash ICE and CBP and I will be really happy.

I disagree that Cruz was more qualified. He is just another lawyer, and lawyers are responsible for the current plethora of regulations that keep multiplying like a cockroach infestation. Government should be about more than trying to increase the number of laws to outnumber the people. Furthermore, had Cruz been the nominee, the usual playbook (racist, sexist, bigot, blah blah blah) would almost certainly have been effective against him. That is because he was not known prior to throwing his hat into the presidential ring, and so the playbook would have been the only thing that most people heard about him. Trump had the distinct advantage of being well-known before he ran, so the usual playbook was not very effective.

I, for one, am thoroughly convinced that the most qualified candidate won.

“...no one can call themselves progressive without tirelessly combating any and all bigotry.”

I think the author really believes that. But the only difference between progressive bigotry and the KKK is who they are bigoted about.

“...it is now clear that only a Democratic Party that advances a strong populist vision of universal economic and social justice stands a chance at accomplishing this.”

So the tenth time the D’s have decided to change their messaging in my life. But they never change what they actually do. They think they just have to wrap it in the right paper.

“I always figured a President Trump wouldn’t be nearly as conservative as candidate Trump.”

He’s maybe unorthodox that way too. R’s usually govern as extreme moderates as soon as they take office, regardless that they campaigned as conservatives.

Trump may actually govern more conservatively than he ran.

Have to wonder if the media would have reported on “The reaction to Donald Trump’s loss”.

Don’t think so, we would have behaved in a mature, if disappointed way.

Of course we FReepers would have shared our collective anger and creative prose - but we would have been resolute in our principles of non-violence and respect for the Constitutional electoral college.

Would someone define “neoliberalism”? It’s like “alt-right” and “neocon.” We get examples but no clear definitions.

In two months, Trump and his GOP will officially become America’s governing party — the establishment, that is — and every single problem this country faces will become their responsibility.

Two months!!! After eight years of Obama, everything that failed was STILL blamed on GWB!

I like Cruz, but he would have been an easier target for the enemedia to demonize. People who’d seen Trump in the public eye for decades weren’t frightened by him - especially blacks, Hispanics, and gay who together could have certainly delivered the White House to Hillary (the margins were that close in key states).
