Donald Trump, Rival Mitt Romney Have 'Great' Meeting as Trump Races to Fill Cabinet
NBC News ^ | Nov 19 2016 | Phil McCausland and Vaughn Hillyard

Mitt Romney emerged Saturday from a closed-door meeting with President-elect Donald Trump — a face-to-face sit down he called "thorough and in-depth" after they traded bitter barbs with one another during a divisive election.

Trump and Romney seemed to bury the hatchet at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey — where the businessman-turned-politician moved his White House transition team for the weekend — in a meeting that started shortly after 1 p.m. ET and lasted about an hour and a half.

Trump walked the former governor of Massachusetts outside and told the press, "It went great."

I cannot wait until his first press conference after he’s in office. He should just yell, IRRELEVANT to their stupid questions and ban them for a month until they can ask informed questions.

Romney and Healthcare, oh noes!
Ask the people who used to be taken care of at the City Hospital in Worcester and at anyone of a number of teaching hospitals, all of which had to close because of the bureaucratic nightmare Romney unleashed. A system that was working where the indigent got a standard of care equal to any paying patient because all of the best doctors volunteered their time in rotating shifts, was completely lost because of the “Bain” touch.

Take a bit of time to research Romney’s time at Bain. Not what we want for our veterans or America. Romney was a corporate raider at best, buying companies running through the assets & moving on with the company bankrupt, leaving hundreds without jobs.

You assume that Romney has acknowledged that the whole thing was a truly bad idea.

Do you have any mea culpa, mea maxima culpa information straight from Romney’s lips?

That makes sense, because whoever inherits his slot, has to be someone that Donald trusts to keep his plan going. Obviously he can trust Pence.

If Mitt gets a position, it won’t be in the succession line.

Romney at his worst didn’t propose anything that looked like this horrible boondoggle and screw up job.

That really needed Barack Obama. Mitt was only an excuse.

Mitt, if he was a downsizing maven, wouldn’t be good with a fellow, like Donald, who is trying to be an upsizing maven.

The Pro Tempore President of the Senate comes after the Speaker and before the Secretary of State.

This is probably the only time in the next four or eight years you will hear about the pro tem President of the Senate.

Now it's Orrin Hatch. People who hold the office are usually so old that getting the news that they became POTUS would probably kill them.

Under my thumb
The squirmin’ Mitt who’s just had his day
Under my thumb
A mutt who has just changed his ways
It’s down to me, yes it is
The way he does just what he’s told
Down to me, the change has come
He’s under my thumb
Ah, ah, say it’s alright

He could turn the VA around. I believe that. He could be a hero, a real one.

He could also learn from Donald, because he damn sure failed on his own.

"Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey — where the businessman-turned-politician moved his White House transition team for the weekend."

Well that was important to include, as if Obama was never on a golf course. Can these media types get ANY more slanted?

I agree - he needs people that are loyal to him and his agenda and that is capable of eviscerating the media and the left. Romney is loyal to neither, nor is he a fighter.

"We must join with them, we must join with the Democrats" is the Saruman way, to compromise with evil. Like bad fruit mixed in a stack of good, the end result is simply bad.

I believe there’s a major difference between Romney being in charge and Romney being placed in a position of responsibility but still taking orders.

Trump will appoint who he wants to.

I do not approve of Romney serving under him.

Anything negative that a subordinate does, will be Trump’s failure.

If the guy simply fails to get the job done, it will ultimately be Trump’s fault.

If that guy happens to be someone who trashed Trump and his platform for 17 months, how is that going to make Trump look?

All I can do is express my discomfort with this scenario.

I agree with that.

I like the optics of the golf club entrance. Looks formal and Presidential.

I also like how Pence and Trump greeted Romney with a photo op outside. You know...like the pr*ck Obama was supposed to do with Trump.

Willard hates the military and the veterans...

He is a TWO TIME draft dodger...

I wouldn’t let him anywhere near the VA...
