Rahm Emmanuel Challenges Trump on Sanctuary Cities
American Thinker ^ | November 16, 2016 | Daniel John Sobieski

President-elect Donald Trump, who ran as a law and order candidate, has had the legal gauntlet thrown down before him by Chicago Mayor and former Obama White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel. Emanuel and his lawbreaking brethren have pledged that despite the election results and the law, their cities will remain sanctuary cities:

In a 2012 appearance at a Little Village school, Emanuel told reporters that the police department is not an "adjunct for the immigration service."

"We're not going to turn people over to ICE" -- the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency," Emanuel said according to a Tribune report on the 2012 event.

That is exactly the policy that got Kate Steinle murdered by an illegal alien in San Francisco and Jamiel Shaw Jr. killed in Los angles, just two of many. Only in the fundamentally transformed America of President Obama could the former police chief of San Francisco, the city where Kate Steinle was murdered by an illegal alien given sanctuary, herself a supporter of sanctuary cities, be the short list for the next head of the U.S. Border Patrol. As Fox News reported:

Hopefully by the time the issue reaches the Supreme Court, there will be a few Trump picks who will settle it right.

Withholding funds from sanctuary cities will have limited effect. The defiant officials don't care; it's somebody else's money, and they can blame inconveniences on the law enforcers not the law breakers (Leftists love to do that!).

The defiant officials must be threatened themselves, preferably with jail time and heavy fines. That's when they'll knuckle under.

I know. I know. "You can't blah blah blah blah!" Donald Trump is a genius at thinking outside the box.

I love it when I hear: "OH! Well sure...if you do it THAT WAY...you can...!

Where there's a will there's a way.

To protect its citizens, we enacted
8 U.S. Code § 1227 - Deportable aliens

The most common conviction-based grounds of deportation are the following:
Aggravated felony convictions (some 35 different offenses and categories of offenses listed at INA § 101(a)(43).Controlled substances convictions.Firearms convictions.Convictions of crimes of moral turpitude. Domestic violence convictions.
Aggravated OUI/DWI.

There’s a good reason this is in effect. These crimes committed would have not have been committed by these perpetrators on our soil.

Rahm must like the feeling of Trump's foot up his ass, because that is what he is going to get.

I want to see Trump make an example of someone regarding sanctuary cities, and Chicago would be an excellent choice.

Hey Rahm, if you gave a rip about your city and its citizens you’d be working darn hard to clean it up.

The 600+ Chicagoans shot to death on the streets this year apparently could’ve used a higher-quality sanctuary.

When Rahm figures out how to protect his own citizens, maybe then somebody will care about what he thinks about those who aren’t.

Withholding all federal funds from a state will have a huge effect. Do you think Springfield will come down on Rahm if they lose all highway and medicaid funding?

Thanks, now I no longer have to worry about reading posts, but my new braille keyboard works as does the computer reading. I really didn’t have any need for eyesight.
