This is Trump’s hatchet to bury, and beyond that it is also Cruz’s hatchet to bury.
If they bury it, then it’s buried, and that’s it.
No reason you can’t have both.

Cruz is a naturalized citizen. Prior to the 1930's Cruz would not even be a citizen of the USA. Congress in the 30's passed a law allowing a mother to pass her citizenship to her children. If a law passed by congress makes you a citizen you are by definition not a natural born citizen.
The son of a Cuban, born in Canada is not a natural born citizen of the USA.

Because the Constitution does not define what a natural-born citizen is, ALL natural-born citizens are put in that class because of how the law is written.
Precedent from English law says that natural-born at the time did include British subjects born in another country.

Solicitor General is the #3 position in the Department of Justice. It is right behind the AG and the Assistant AG.
The most notable Solicitor General in the last 50 years was probably Robert Bork, who was Solicitor General under Nixon, and was temporarily AG after the “Saturday Night Massacre” when Nixon fired the AG and assistant AG because they refused to carry out Nixon’s order to fire Archibald Cox.
Cruz does need supervision. He’s a loose cannon without it. The Solicitor takes marching orders from the AG.
Cruz is real good in a court room.
I like Cruz for the supreme court, I do not like Cruz for AG, Chris Christie would be much better. I do like Rudi as SoS. I'll bet foggy bottom is in panic mode over that.
There were only natural-born because that’s what the law said at the time. The law is what defines the meaning of natural-born.
All “natural-born” means is that the law at the time you were born meant that you were an instant citizen and didn’t need to immigrate here.
“Natural-born citizen” is simply a statement of what time you became a citizen. It does not state what the requirements to be a citizen are. That is defined by the law.
We need to see his Consular Report of Foreign Birth (CRFB) to be able to answer that question. Technically without a CRFB Cruz is not even a citizen of the USA. But he has been here long enough that I am OK with not deporting him back to Canada.
