The cloture rules can be nuked. The dems under Harry Reid did it. Time to go big or go home.

Rudy would be an excellent Attorney General. What possible objection could the Senate have to him? That he’s divorced and remarried?

A president deserves to nominate whomever he wants.

Cut the democrats off at the knees. Give them no power, no say, nothing.

No one cares about them.

So do what Obama did... make him a “czar” (executive advisor) which does not need Senate approval. Put him in charge of managing/directing all the inspector generals of all the departments. He’d inspect every part of the swamp and drain it!

Confused. We have a Republican majority. Why would he be denied?

I just want an AG who’ll open up a can of RICO on the Clinton Foundation. Is that too much to ask?

Who is going to be attorney general? Judge Jeanine Pirro would be OK with me.

But Trump transition team wants a Trump loyalist in the AG position. Sessions, as a "member of the club", they believe will get quick confirmation from his Senate colleagues.

You mean like that other member of the club, John Tower, sailed through his confirmation hearing?

Well, if they are going to play by those rules, Trump won’t be able to get any of his appointees approved or a USSC justice either.

Will Sessions go after the corruption? If not, keep him out of the AG position.

Democrat Presidents get to pick whomever they want for Cabinet positions, whether qualified or not. Republicans have to worry about filibusters. Remember that Ted Olson’s confirmation was delayed until after 9/11 (when his wife Barbara was killed on the plane that was flown into the Pentagon) and John Bolton had to settle for a recess appointment to be US ambassador to the UN.

If he couldn’t be confirmed for AG, how could he be confirmed for S of S? Don’t both require Senate approval?

The Dems had no problem with a filibuster. Turnabout is fair play.

The Dems “deemed” Obamacare passed. No problem for the Republicans now.

Don't think Giuliani is a good fit at State.

UNLESS Trumps wants him there to drain the swamp at Foggy Bottom. There are a lot of entrenched swamp creatures at State, dating back to the time Alger Hiss was there.

Giuliani might be the best person Trump has to get rid of them. Though it's an extremely tough task. I believe Reagan tried, and couldn't do it.

Like Hillary, he has too many conflicting foreign business conflicts.

This makes no sense. You need to be confirmed as Secretary of State, and it would be a lot easier for the Democrats to justify a filibuster for that role, since Giuliani is probably unqualified to serve, or at least has no real experience in foreign policy.

I don’t like the idea that we need to reward political opportunists for “supporting us”, but if we are, at least put them into positions they are highly qualified for.

Also, it seems risky from a conservative perspective to put a rather moderate at best republican into a highly political job like Secretary of State. AG isn’t political, or shouldn’t be, and I trust that Giuliani would be great at that position.

Giuliani Rises for State Because Attorney General Nominee Would Be Denied.

This story is pure HOGWASH.
Rudy would make a perfect AG.
Prosecutorial experience as a U.S. Attorney.
Administrative experience as the mayor of New York City.
Who could ask for anything more?
Between Rudy and Bannon, they would slaughter many of the slimy swamp critters.
