The cloture rules can be nuked. The dems under Harry Reid did it. Time to go big or go home.
The Turtle says: whaaaat?
Cabinet appointments only need a simple majority. This doesn’t make sense.

Yes, Harry Reid and Democrats did the nuclear option on cloture on presidential nominees.
That rule change is still in place, isn’t it. Unless the Republicans changed it back? Did they??
I thought that rule change was still in effect, so that a Republican majority could shove things back down the Democrats throats.
But why does Rudy think it would be hard for him to get Senate confirmation? I don’t see that he has ever had such universal strong condemnation from Democrats.
You are correct. If the GOP had the same stones that Reid had, they could have all the nominees confirmed in a week. Say what you want about the Reid Senate, but they didn’t go off the reservation, remained unified, and gave no quarter. McConnell needs to emulate Reid in that respect..
Which really means that Mitch is the guy blocking the best of Trump’s nominees.
It would take 51 votes to remove the filibuster rule. I can think of at least 6 Republicans who would vote against the change right off the bat. Probably come up with more if I thought about it a bit.
