As a 43-year-old lifelong Red Sox fan, I understand heartbreak. I know exactly what it’s like to be a Cubs fan as they hurtle toward another potential devastating post-season loss. That’s why I should be excited and rooting right along with Cubs Nation as they set their sights on their first World Series title since 1908. But I just can’t get into it.
Why?
Because their owner, the Ricketts family, has done more to kill constitutional conservative campaigns this election cycle than just about any group in America.
Who are the Ricketts and how are they protecting Big Government RINOs from constitutional conservatives? I wrote about them in August when they were funding the race against conservative stalwart Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan. (A, 92%).
Joe Ricketts is the founder of TD Ameritrade and patriarch of the Ricketts family. His son Pete, a Republican, is the current governor of Nebraska, the Ricketts’ home state. Another son, Tom, led the family’s 2009 purchase of the Chicago Cubs from bankrupt media conglomerate Tribune Co. The Ricketts children reportedly “hold 95 percent of the franchise through a trust established by their parents, Joe and Marlene Ricketts.”
In 2010, Joe launched the Ending Spending Fund to oppose candidates who favor excessive spending via earmarks. That election cycle, the group spent more than $860,000 on an effort to unseat Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev. (F, 2%).
How can any of that be bad? Well, rebranded as Ending Spending Action Fund and then again as ESAFund, the super PAC shifted from targeting liberal Democrats to kneecapping conservatives in primaries.

For the sake of the Cubs fans, I hope the Cubs lose the World Series. If the Cubs win the World Series the Cubs fans will have nothing to live for, nothing to hope for, no reason to live. To be a Cubs fan is to be a loser for life. Sorry, but that’s the way it is.
BTW, I was there in 1984 when the Cubs lost 3 straight to the Padres after the Cubs won the first two games of a five game series.
Before I learned about the Ricketts' war on conservatives, my stated reason for rooting for the Tribe was that, since 1964, Chicago has had TEN major professional sports championships while Cleveland had NONE until the Cavs this year.

And the White Sox are the team of the Daley's, Obama's and the south side. The Cubs are more the suburban team. I also respect the fact that the Cubs aren't welfare leeches like the Sox, and are redoing the ballpark on their own.
But Obama has climbed on the Cubs bandwagon just the same. Some Sox fan he is.

There is sort of. It’s the only championship trophy (among the NHL NBA NFL and MLB) that isn’t created every year for the winning team. There is the original which is too fragile to be used anymore. It changed shape over the years until it’s current design. There are bands on which the teams members are engraved but at some point the bands fill up and then older bands are removed and new ones added so the current shape will remain as it is now.

And that recalls my original reason for wanting the Cubs to lose this time and every time until every last Death-to-Steve-Bartman "lovable loser" Cubs fan is in the grave.
What they did to that poor guy--one of their own!--was supremely despicable. As if any of them wouldn't have done the same thing he did in that situation?!
I do not believe an instrument exists to measure my interest in any professional sport. However, I’d like to see the Cubs win the world series, because it would be a clear and unmistakable sign of the apocalypse.
Screw people who politicize this team or that team winning. I want to enjoy sports without fans of the one team spewing reasons why it’s immoral if the other guys win.
You know also oppose Tim Huelskamp btw? Ignorant freepers who were mad he endorsed Cruz and too foolish to realize that his victorious opponent, “Doc” Marshall is a dirty RINO and his victory was part of a massive push by Kansas RINO SCUM to take out conservatives, they got a dozen conservative state legislators too.
