Why a World Series win for the Cubs is terrible for America
Conservative Review ^ | October 25, 2016 | Robert Eno

As a 43-year-old lifelong Red Sox fan, I understand heartbreak. I know exactly what it’s like to be a Cubs fan as they hurtle toward another potential devastating post-season loss. That’s why I should be excited and rooting right along with Cubs Nation as they set their sights on their first World Series title since 1908. But I just can’t get into it.

Why?

Because their owner, the Ricketts family, has done more to kill constitutional conservative campaigns this election cycle than just about any group in America.

Who are the Ricketts and how are they protecting Big Government RINOs from constitutional conservatives? I wrote about them in August when they were funding the race against conservative stalwart Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan. (A, 92%).

Joe Ricketts is the founder of TD Ameritrade and patriarch of the Ricketts family. His son Pete, a Republican, is the current governor of Nebraska, the Ricketts’ home state. Another son, Tom, led the family’s 2009 purchase of the Chicago Cubs from bankrupt media conglomerate Tribune Co. The Ricketts children reportedly “hold 95 percent of the franchise through a trust established by their parents, Joe and Marlene Ricketts.”

In 2010, Joe launched the Ending Spending Fund to oppose candidates who favor excessive spending via earmarks. That election cycle, the group spent more than $860,000 on an effort to unseat Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev. (F, 2%).

How can any of that be bad? Well, rebranded as Ending Spending Action Fund and then again as ESAFund, the super PAC shifted from targeting liberal Democrats to kneecapping conservatives in primaries.

The Cubs still haven’t scored a run in the World Series in 71 years.

Exactly. The last time the Cubs won it all (1908), We even elected a fairly decent President named William Howard Taft.

I want the Cubbies to lose because of Obama, Ayers, Wright. FU, Chicago for what you did to the country.

If she did, it is a rare occasion that she spoke the truth.

Excellent! I was hoping someone would catch my little joke-within-a-joke.

Cleveland has hellacious pictures

Assume you mean "pitchers". And you would be absolutely correct! The guy we're running out tonight (Bauer) is one heck of a character. Hopefully he'll be able to keep the bleeding at bay. Go Tribe!

Sorry to hear about your dad. My grandma died when I was a kid and she loved the Indians. I remember as a boy seeing her wracked with cancer and pain, but smiling and having a "great day" because the Indians struck out Reggie Jackson three times. I'll never forget that.

The Red Sox are the largest corporate contributor to the DNC in New England. Do you recall John Henry, Tom Werner and Theo Epstein actively campaigning for John Kerry and all other Democrat nominees? At least Curt Schilling survived!

After opposing Trump in the primaries, Joe Ricketts will give at least $1 million to support him.

Go Cubs but if Ohio goes Trump Go Cleveland

Ya, bases loaded and no outs, then no runs was very painful

When the Cubs string together hits, they win. It was that way with the Rays when Maddon and Zobrist wore TB on their caps, and it’s been that way throughout the postseason. Fearless prediction: tonight Cubs win, 8-3.

Here, here! Some time ago, I swore I'd never spend another dime in the corruption capital of the free world. So far, so good... I've even turned down offers to see my Cardinals play at Wrigley and tickets to the Chicago Symphony.

GO TRIBE.

I’m not a baseball follower.

I simply want the Cartoon caricature Indian to win, because its funny and gets the SJW’s panties in a knot

Chicago has nothing to cry about - they have 3 Stanley Cups in the last 6 years.

“The guy we’re running out tonight (Bauer) is one heck of a character.”

Not a fan of Bauer. Last game against the Tigers he hit three batters. They should’ve kicked his ass but they didn’t. I would love to see his karma come due tonight.

I thought there was only one Stanley Cup.

BTW, I said NOTHING about CHICAGO fans, only Cub fans. White Sox, Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks DON't take a perverse pleasure in losing.

Before she announced that she was a lifelong New York Yankees fan, First Lady Hillary Clinton attended Opening Day at Wrigley Field in 1994 and threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Cubs rookie Tuffy Rhodes hit three home runs, but the Cubs lost to the New York Mets 12-8. Rhodes wound up playing professional baseball in Japan when it became obvious that he could not catch routine fly balls hit to him in the outfield.
He was like a Little League player who would raise his glove hand while turning his head away from the ball for fear that it would hit him.

One of the funnier memories of that Opening Day was an airplane with an advertising banner which was constantly circling Wrigley Field. The advertising banner recited the beginning of the Miranda warning: “HILLARY: YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT.”

I think that this had to do with the FBI raw files or Travelgate.

Thirty-two plus years later, nothing seems to have changed in terms of Hillary’s criminality.

And Chicago actually did win a WS in 2005, it just wasn’t the Cubs.

You are aware that Obama is not a Cubs fan, aren’t you? He supports the taxpayer subsidized Chicago White Sox.

I would love to see his karma come due tonight.

He'll be lucky if he gets through two innings to be honest. That pinky finger burst immediately when he threw against Toronto. If Bauer can go out and throw four innings of 0-1 run ball, we'll consider it a major success here.
