I’m not sure where you are headed there, so go ahead and explain.

Please point to me where the U. S. Constitution says you can care any length blade knife no matter where you are.

Well see right there where it doesn't say anything about knife blade length?

Right there.

That's how it works.

Take away the length law. Officers hands will be tied.

Remember that guy in San Francisco? He shot that beautiful young women right next to her father. Her father had no time to react. She was gone.

That’s how quickly this knife thing is. We could be carrying right next to them, and the reaction would have been too late.

As it is, the police can stop a guy acting strangely and have cause to roust him if he’s carrying a knife. If there is no law, those crazies could do anything, go anywhere...

I know what the Constitution says. Some of the guys pointed it out to me. They make a very good case.

Reality is, it wouldn’t work. There has to be a tool to help officers and us.

I’m not buying into people being able to carry any sized knife they like.

It’s too easy to get a knife. There are just too many crazies out there.

Oh there's a tool alright. It was developed repeatedly throughout history by all of the countries that made the empowerment and convenience of police work more important than respecting and protecting the rights of its people.

I'm on the side of the US Constitution. You seem to be on the side of history. But you're right, the Constitution is very inconvenient to police work. Very.

There are two types of people. Those who see that as a good thing, and understand why, despite its eternal problems - and those who don't.

Never the twain shall meet.

Never.

Generally there is a process to obtain a gun. Any crazy can go pick up a knife in ten minutes.

Then how will a law against knives stop crazies and gang members, especially if they're so easy to get? People get illegal GUNS easy, so how will knife laws stop anyone but already law-abiding citizens?

I agree with your interpretation of weapons, but I can’t agree to advocacy to carry any length knife someone wants to carry. With a law on the books, a Police officer can stop a gang member or crazy, and get them off the streets. Without one, even when an officer knows trouble is soon to follow, he won’t be able to do a darned thing.

Utter nonsense - a cop can stop anyone who seems to be a threat, or menacing, or a danger to themselves or others, for ANY reason. It has nothing to do with knife laws.

Seriously, are you drunk? You think a knife law would stop a murderer from whipping out a knife and killing someone? Really? A MURDERER is going to say, "Gee, I'd really like to whip out a knife and kill someone, they'd never know it was coming. But darnit, shoot and tarnation, them there knives is illegal, and I just can't get one. I just can't go into a grocery store and buy a knife, so, oh well, I won't murder today."

Is that what you really think?

Or are you a half-assed shill trying to push knife laws for liberal Democrats now, using the same useless, illogical, communist, anti-Constitution arguments you people have failed to kill the 2nd Amendment with - including not even knowing a knife is a Constitutional 2nd-Amendment "arm"?

Sleep it off, or go to hell. Choose one.

Knife law, the 1950’s scam that keeps on giving. Life Magazine and West Side Story led a campaign against switchblades. There was never any statistical information that made them any more dangerous than other pointy objects, but the campaign cast the mold from which gun control now springs.
The people never got both sides of that argument because the people targeted didn’t have the resources to object, Even if they did, they were identified as thugs and despicable, unredeemable, undesirables by the national media!

Talisker, that police work can also save lives. I know that’s anti-Constitutional in your opinion, but it isn’t in mine. This is not as cut and dried as you folks wish it was.

Utter nonsense is thinking a police officer can detain someone for not doing anything wrong.

You want to remove carrying a large knife from being something wrong.

This means an officer can stop a guy, realize he’s a problem, and yet the guy isn’t doing anything wrong.

You seem to be of a mind that the officer should then detain the person. Is that Constitutional? Ahhhhh, NO!

BTW: The law is there to make it so the officer can detain because of the carrying of a weapon. If it appears to be a problematic guy, they can get him off the streets with a law that says he can’t carry a large knife.

No, it doesn’t stop the crazies. It’s a tool to let the police stop the crazies.

You are so slow, it’s a waste of time to talk to you.

The law allows the police to stop a suspicious looking guy and find out what is going on. When they note that he has a large knife they can do something about it. They can haul him away.

If there is no law, then he isn’t doing anything wrong. They can’t take any action. They leave and five minutes later your wife is dead.

If you can’t grasp this, then you’ve got a lot of nerve trying to argue your point.

Okay it goes like this. All free persons have a God given right to carry on their person whatever they feel is appropriate for their own personal self defense without asking permission from anyone.

How’s that for a start?

It great.

Now, how are you going to feel if the police stop a guy with a large knife and can’t do anything about it? Then he comes up behind you and your wife, and she’s dead before you can do a thing about it.

You folks need to think before you spout off.

I support you having a gun on you. I say gun because you can’t defend yourself across a room with a knife.

So keep the gun and let the knife go. Guns are good close up also. You don’t want to wind up in a knife fight. You could win and still be very seriously injured.

Of course that could happen with a gun too, but at least you have a chance of remedying the situation from a distance, before a guy slices you or someone you care about.

Yep - local news talking about a 6 year-old victim of "gun violence" (he was shot in the knee by a "stray" bullet).

I told the wife they needed to stop using "gun violence" and start using a description of the perps like, Black thug violence/Latino gang violence/White trash violence, etc.

Of course doing that would shine a bad light on some protected classes of criminals....

Re : Post #60 ~ *Did you know one can make Nunchucks WITH NO METAL?* I bought mine in Chinatown, NYC. Perfectly legal to buy/sell. The loophole is they must be sold unassembled; meaning the rope used (not a metal chain) to hold them together is not attached when sold.
