U.S. Catholic school hit with $1 million suit for not allowing same-sex date at dance

MEMPHIS, Tennessee, September 29, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) — An all-boys Catholic high school in Memphis, Tennessee, is being sued for $1 million by a former student who claims the school caused him “severe injuries and damages” by refusing to allow him to bring his same-sex date to a homecoming dance last year.

The suit, filed Sept. 20 in Circuit Court on behalf of Lance Sanderson, states that Christian Brothers High School (CBHS) caused the teenage boy who identifies as “gay” to “suffer severe injuries and damages which include, but are not limited to disability, past and future emotional distress, past and future medical expenses, and personal care services.”

Sanderson hit the national spotlight last year after going public with the school’s refusal to let him bring his male date. Despite negative media attention as well as a petition on Change.org titled “Let me take my date to homecoming” that was signed by almost 28,000 supporters, the school held fast to its Catholic principles.

The Catholic Church teaches that sexuality as created by God is for the sake of lovingly uniting a man and a woman in marriage to produce offspring. Homosexual acts are called “intrinsically disordered” since they are “contrary to the nature law” in that they “close the sexual act to the gift of life.”

“Under no circumstances can they be approved,” states the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Catholic life and family advocates stress that it is precisely because of love that the Church warns people of the biological and spiritual dangers associated genital activity between two persons of the same sex.

School officials made it clear during that time by means of school-wide announcements that CBHS “adheres to the Catholic and Lasallian traditions,” specifically stating that “for logistical reasons, boys from other schools may not attend” the dance.

Sanderson was eventually suspended from school for unknown reasons and finished his senior year courses at home, upon which he received a CBHS diploma.

Now a college freshman at DePaul University, Sanderson hopes his lawsuit will intimidate Catholic schools across the nation to be more accepting of homosexuality.

“I hope they don’t do this to anyone else in the future and that other schools that try to abide by similar philosophies don’t do this to their students. I really don’t want anyone else to go through what I went through this year,” he told reporters.

The suit comes a little over a year after the Supreme Court overturned male/female marriage, ruling that the U.S. Constitution contains the right for two people of the same-sex to “marry.” Pro-family leaders warned that overturning natural marriage would embolden gay activists to use every legal means at their disposal to stamp voices dissenting from their agenda.

There is probably nothing wrong with that boy that properly administered electric shock treatments could not cure in only 60 hours.

I hope they just cancel all dances. It is disgusting that the Government is trying to manipulate religious people. The Word is law to religious people. I pray that Trump will bring back religious freedom. And I believe that Muslims can do what they want, as long as it is within the laws of our country.

The state cannot legislate the Church. That’s what happened in England.

Is it happening here, now?

Stand up for Religious Freedom.

I would prefer that they close the school down rather than make even a tiny change in the school’s philosophy and rules. No religious organization should ever move one inch to accommodate some depraved baloney-smoker.

Unfortunately we don’t have judges who could tell this idiot get the hell of of here and don’t let me see you again. This is how low our society has sunk. Many years ago we had a president who took pride to send someone to the moon. Now we have some one who takes pride to send some who can’t figure out what gender they may belong to a female restroom. How much further will such a society sink?

Why was this openly gay boy going to a Catholic school?

After he came out as gay his parents should have been asked to voluntarily remove him from the school or place him in therapy to correct his mental illness.

School should go for immediate dismissal and damages for the bringing of a frivolous lawsuit with the lawyer fined heavily.

It is more than God’s Law-—it is Natural Law—the basis of our Constitution and basis of Natural Laws and Natural Duites.

There is no “right” to sodomize others or engage in irrational evil dehumanizing behaviors in a “Justice” System-—much less a Justice System based on Christian Ethics ONLY which WAS our Justice System.

They are removing Reason from Just Law and also God’s Law from Rule of Law to make it Rule of Man (which we have now). Positive “law” is replacing true “Justice”—the Queen of Virtue in Western Civ. Now it is promoting Vice—sodomizing others and killing-babies and Theft and Slavery (welfare/socialism).

It is ALL unconstitutional since Unjust Laws (ones promoting vice) are “Null and Void” as Justice Marshall stated and the judges at Nuremberg Trials. Natural Duty trumps base (irrational) urges every time that deny people the ability to perform their Natural Duties (like caring for OWN offspring)—which is the chief Natural Duty.

Those lawyers are pretty impressive, to be able to see into the kid's future like that.

Private Religious School.

Screw fedgov and these people. Catholics have a right to not have their faith abused by people shoving their sin in their faces.

To sue a Catholic school for being Catholic is an act of pure evil. I hope this predator receives true justice for his abuse of the legal system.

It’s a look-at-me, flaming move. He doesn’t expect to see a red cent, only to get the scandalous attention.

This is not a time to get hair on fire, but to get on knees and quietly but persistently pray for wisdom.

Problems come when a look-at-me church clash with a look-at-me heathen.

Huh?

Ever trouble yourselfness to go check the facts— that while it’s sport that the priests get all the finger pointing, when under your own pointy nose you go mute on schools and pastors whose numbers FAR exceed the perversions of priests, bubba.

The scandal against priests were real and they were wicked, but they had to go back in time for decades to cough up even the numbers of these incidents they did present.

Decades.
