A Tennessee man wore a gorilla mask, carried a rope and tried to hand out bananas at a college Black Lives Matter protest Wednesday, police said.
East Tennessee State University campus police arrested freshman student Tristan Rettke, who is white, on a charge of civil rights intimidation following the disruption, the Johnson City Press reported. University officials condemned his act and scheduled a community discussion.
A video published by the newspaper showed the man later identified as Rettke wearing overalls and also holding a burlap sack with a marijuana leaf and Confederate flag on it. He dangled a banana with the rope toward the dozen or so demonstrators in the video.

I guess most people, even here at the once great Freerepublic don’t understand it is already over. My being white or protesting BLM is now “a charge of civil rights intimidation”. If I disagree with President Hillary or anything the government does it is NOW a crime of “civil rights intimidation”. Thank God for his promises because truly that is all that is left now.

Freedom of speech is protected for protected classes of people. There is a double standard. If you’re white, you have no freedom of speech if someone of a protected, entitlement race deems it offensive.

I'm not even a believer, but I have more faith than you, it would seem. Time will tell.

This guy is an idiot and maybe deserves to be charged with disturbing the peace, but civil rights intimidation? Come on.
We had New Black Panthers with billy clubs at polling places who had charges dropped against them by the current administration’s justice department. But this white guy threatened people with a banana?

But yeah, there are a handful of honest to God bigots out there. It looks like they found one. Oh joy. We will be hearing about this forever.
Bah. One of the ways in which a people can be subjugated is to get them to believe that, while they can be insulted and maligned, the other groups are untouchable. For example, blacks in the Old South were certainly not allowed to make fun of white people because it was maintained that white people were superior. Blacks were not allowed even to be sightly disrespectful, whereas white people made fun of blacks at will. Well, now the roles are reversed and white people are not allowed to make fun of, or even express displeasure toward, minorities, blacks especially, and quite frankly, it is in order for white people to be made to feel inferior. Neither this young man, nor any person under the age of 50 or 60, is even old enough to be able to remember a time when black people weren't given preferential treatment in virtually every area, despite their obvious shortcomings as a community. White people the age of this young man only know that black people cannot be insulted while they, themselves, are insulted at every turn, in the movies, TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, and by THEIR OWN PRESIDENT.
This young man showed not only impressive cajones of tremendous proportions, but surprising resistance to the programming of assumed inferiority that he has been exposed to his whole life. You call him a bigot for acts that hurt nobody, while hordes of black people attack white people at will in places like Charlotte, Baltimore, and Ferguson.

“As per the article, the charge is civil rights intimidation. Such an obamatarded charge.”
But standing in front of a poling place in military garb with Billie clubs isn’t.

“a charge of civil rights intimidation
Most whites have yet to realize that they don’t share in so called ‘civil rights’.
Whites are under attack and whites need specific political representation.

And if he gets his ignorant self killed dead, I am sure that will be a huge comfort to his family to know that his action passed constitutional muster. Was that what you were thinking the first time you saw this?

"It seems to me that what BLM does is civil rights intimidation . Why are they not arrested?" Good question. They certainly are acting like monkeys.
