Too bad that patrol cars don't have a rotating globe on the car top: 1/2 of the rotating globe sprays indelible 3-5 day (black-light) ink
and the other 1/2 of the rotating globe is a high speed camera, taking high speed photos of the 'perps'.
For the next 3-5 days the 'perps' couldn't participate in demonstrations without being picked up by roving patrol cars, and police would have on file photos of those responsible.
The Governors and Mayors need to do that job, if they are comsymps like Jerry Brown, the residents are out of luck.
Only thing Trump can do is stop the feds from interfering in local police matters like they do now.

From the perch of “1919”, a year after the end of the Great War, foretold the next century.
That would be an impossible situation for regular commuters. How many carry enough ammo in the car while commuting that they would be able to shoot their way out of a 40+ thug mob? Would an angry mob that big back off from any one person, regardless of armament? Even with better military training than I had and unlimited firepower, how many individuals could fight their way out of the mob safely?
There is no right weapon for being close to an intersection when a feral flash mob stops traffic. I like a shotgun with 00 to #4 turkey loads for close range, but who could carry enough ammo and load quickly enough while surrounded?
The answers, as you wrote later in that article and in others, are obvious. (1) Don't go out until the situation is controlled by the government or by the community. (2) If government will not do its job of protecting the lives and property of its citizens, that responsibility devolves back to the people, from whom government derives its just powers.

By the time I moved to Sunland-Tujunga in ‘94, the police presence was way diminished. The place was still quiet, though, because the local biker gang kept the riff raff out.
Ten years later the bikers had moved on, and the lower life forms from L.A. began creeping in. That’s when we pulled up stakes and moved to Texas.
Cops can’t and won’t respond because they know the pols will through them under the bus for political reasons and in most cases out right order the police to stand down.
Obama started this mess and it will end badly for one or two American cities before it is over. The riots we have seen so far have been tame but something worse is coming and depending on how it is responded to can be strangled to death or open Pandora’s box. If Hillary wins the box will be opened. Trump is the only hope of stopping this reign of terror by the left.
Hwy, police and fire union guys, remember all those democrats you supported? Do you get it yet?
