My Mother took the first selfie ever, that I know of. About 60 years ago, my mother tried to take a photo with my “brownie?” camera of me doing doing or showing something.
She aimed the camera by looking into the lens and out of the viewfinder, and snapped a “selfie” of her looking down at the camera.

So now life is a string of facebook pics, instead of developing strength, morality, and character for the next world of life, learning to love as God does, the focus today is on filling the facebook page..truely sad.

Congratulations, Flycatcher! That is one of the great accomplishments, which, I imagine, demanded the fullest efforts and greatest stretch of every aspect of your being. May you be safe on your next climb. Your tagline is lovely.

It is.
I have very fast, industrial-grade Win-7 Pro desktops at home.
I don’t need or want smartphone crap.
Just as I don’t participate in Fakebook, Tweety or any of that garbage.

Really not a big deal unfortunately. They’re all trying to get selfies. It’s 2016 indeed.

YOU are not alone. It’s more than likely YOU don’t remember doing so,because, like you, there are many of us who have NEVER done so. And we never plan to do so. A selfie is just another form of masturbation.

Congratulations on your successful ascent of Mt/ Whitney.
That is not an easy hike, no sirree.

So it looks like the point is that if you take a pic from the front, it will appear that Hillary is in the crowd without actually being in the crowd.

Yep. Also, they seem to be all young WHITE chicks — little tony suburban princesses. Interesting angle to the shot, too — maybe to fudge the amount of women there?
But then, I’m cynical.
To: floralamiss; T-Bone Texan
Thank you! It was a brutal hike, but I'm glad I accomplished it (though I would NEVER do it again).
It took about 7.5 hours to get to the top and we took very few breaks. We stayed at the snowy summit (in mid-July, mind you) for about an hour and cracked open a can of beer to celebrate. My favorite part was being surrounded by all the gray-crowned rosy-finches that live up in this high elevation. They almost eat out of your hand!
It took only 5.5 hours hours to get down and we were moving fast. Total hike was 22 miles round trip, with an ascent of 6,000 ft on those first 11 miles.
Glad I did it but I'll never do it again. That item on my bucket list is now checked. (Funny thing is, before I went, it was never on my bucket list!)

I haven't heard anything so ignorant as that in a long time although I do realize there's a contingent of males beings on FR who have that same Medieval mindset. Hey!
That thing I posted on the other thread was supposed to be a JOKE!

And it doesn't occur to you that men actually can abandon the families they are responsible for creating? And we are left to support the cowbirds that hatch in the nest!
