Cruz supporters alarmed by possible Trump endorsement
Washington Examiner ^ | September 22, 2016 | By DAVID M. DRUCKER

Ted Cruz supporters were alarmed Wednesday at suggestions that he was on the verge of endorsing Donald Trump.

They worry that the Texas senator could squander his brand as a fighter — and goodwill earned among many through his stubborn refusal to back his party's nominee — if he caves with nothing to show for it.

Cruz has held out on the grounds that Trump is insufficiently conservative, and because Trump attacked his wife and father down the stretch of their heated battle for the Republican nomination.

The senator even took the extraordinary step of declining to endorse Trump during a televised, prime time speech delivered from the stage of the New York businessman's own nominating convention.

If Cruz does endorse Trump, Cruz is only doing it in an attempt to help himself.

If Cruz truly cared about the good of election, or party or the People, Cruz would have endorsed Trump months ago.

Cruz laid himself bare during primaries and it was ugly to look at then and still is now, because his decisions are always about him, selfish, not self-less.

It shouldn’t even be about Ted. It should be about God, and what Ted is willing to choose to do to that end.

It isn’t about a mere vote in November as if this whole Trump thing could coast from there either. The Rats will not just lie there and applaud. Casting the devil out, over and over, will be the thing.

Totally agree. Cruz needs to get unquestionably on board. He claims to be a defender of the constitution well if Clinton wins he might as well set it on fire for all it will be worth under a Left wing SCOTUS.

SOME people say... God helps those who help themselves... if we have to put it that crassly.

But really what are we asking Cruz to do, to remain an enemy? I bet you a dozen high sugar New York City donuts that Trump isn’t.

I agree, for principle’s sake, but I think redemption is pretty much out of the question. Cruz revealed himself, and I suspect he is toast politically. I only hope a real conservative steps up to challenge him at the next primary.

Quick! Someone send Eric Erickson a box of dull razors! He’s going to need them if Cruz endorses!

Eric knows it sucks to be misunderstood.

“Endorse or die a political death forever.”

It’s already too late for the worm. His political career was over when the convention ended.

Sometimes the perfect can be placed as the enemy of the good, or even of the improving.

This isn’t the Christian story. Salvation would be impossible if God allowed that to be the case.

Remember, it is of Alinsky to polarize, personalize, and freeze. That, however, only damns to hell and could cost you a future friend that would prove useful.

You endorse him because he’s not Hillary Clinton. This isn’t hard.

It’s going to be a very close election. Getting TT’s support will likely cost DJT little, but in a close election, every little bit will help.

Hitlery is going abroad to try to drum up votes. Plainly put, the rats are going to spend all the resources they can to get all the votes they can, living or dead.

So...sadly, I think that DJT probably should extend a small olive branch to the miserable twit. See if TT is smart enough and sane enough to grab onto it.

“I’m a Cruz guy, and I invite him to join those of us who think it’s important that Trump wins.”

You are one of the smart ones. There is a time to be concerned about the state of our nation and Illary would ruin this country for the next 30 years. Trump is not perfect but he is the closest thing to Reagan that we will see in the remainder of our lifetimes.

Seriously, what benefit is there to Trump to have Cruz’s endorsement now?

********************

Outside of showing party unity I’m not sure. It matters only if Cruz has supporters in
a state that is closely contested and they would/could turn that state to Trump. I’m not sure
a state exist that would meet that criteria.

Regardless that Ted Cruz is a closet Bushie, with Neil Bush on his campaign...

I thought there was a bit of research somewhere on FR about Cruz taking money from the Clinton campaign a some months ago... I think on an airplane?

I believe the poster thought that this was why Cruz’s convention speech was worded in such an inflammatory manner.

Okay here is a DC Whispers article: http://dcwhispers.com/ted-cruz-photographed-barack-obama-valerie-jarrett-hillary-clinton-days-gop-convention/

He signed a pledge that he would support the nominee of the party. He is either a man of his word or he is not?

So did Trump, on March 29th or 30th.
