Concealed carry without permit becomes law in Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri became the latest state to allow residents to carry a concealed weapon without a permit when lawmakers supported the change Wednesday.

Tense debate during the legislature's annual veto override session encompassed themes of race and class as lawmakers clashed over whether to override Gov. Jay Nixon's veto of Senate Bill 656. In the days leading up to the session the debate drew national attention, with organizations on both sides of the issues working to influence lawmakers.

Another controversial part of the bill is its "stand your ground" provision, which will allow residents to use deadly force on public property if they perceive a threat.

< That is where Ferguson is. lol Hands up don’t shoot

People know the truth about what happened there just like most of the other shootings where the MSM wont report all the facts and context of the case because they'd rather stir up trouble and watch fights and towns get looted and burned to the ground because it delivers better ratings. Cops killed, buildings burned and looted, police cars turned over...it's all just collateral damage to them and makes or better press coverage. The ends justifies the means....

Great News! Hey, but I live in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey, our Constitutional Rights are squashed on a daily basis.

I think it important to stress for those less familiar with the history that this covered only the farms and crossroads in three and a half counties south of the Blue River in Kansas City and exempted those in and surrounding a number of settled towns such as Harrisonville etc.

It was one of the many notible incidents of the Bleeding Kansas legacy.

I was born in Jackson County, Mo, grew up in Johnson and Douglas County, Kansas and spent much of my adult years in Platte County, Mo.

I lived in a house in Lawrence for a while that still had a mini ball in the front porch beam. My great grand father road with the and was made a Postmaster by Lincoln.

Minorities criminals (Africans) may indeed be less safe. I doubt they would have looted and burned Ferguson to the ground without resistance had this God given right been in effect.

Voter ID override is another big one. Past elections have shown rampant voter fraud in St Loius. That crime is going to end.

Great grand dad “rode” with the defensive forces defending Lawrence in the 1850s.

Not “road”

I hadn’t realized how much things have been going our way with regard to gun rights.

Nice graphic.

Thanks.

“We’re going to have to assume everyone we approach is armed,” Ahlbrand told the Missourian prior to the veto session.

For a LEO I think that is probably a good idea regardless of the law since ummm welllll you know often police have to deal with criminals also know as “lawbreakers”. Sad how low the collective IQ has fallen.

Cops already interact with every citizen as if the citizen is a mortal threat to them, so this changes nothing.

IMO, this makes minorities MORE safe. Some of the people who most need concealed carry are decent minorities living in thug neighborhoods. It only takes a few bad apples to terrorize the neighborhood, but if those thugs know that Grandma next door might be packing heat, they are much less likely to mug her.

Maybe those Senators and Representative should get out and talk to a few average members of minority groups. Not just the Al Sharptons and “community organizers” (agitators), and loudmouth protesters.
