Backed into a corner, Sean Hannity tries to punch his way out
Business Insider ^ | September 13, 2016 | Oliver Darcy

... As the host of one of the top radio shows in the country and with a prime-time television slot on Fox News, Hannity was easily the most visible member of the Trump-boosting media, making him a popular target.

Conservatives have publicly and privately trashed him for supporting the New York billionaire, something they have argued required him to betray the very principles he had for years vowed to protect. More and more, he has found himself on something of an island, punching back at critics who say he has made a colossal mistake.

And in recent weeks, the conservative talk-show host seemed to have had enough, not only moving to declare war on the Never Trump faction of the conservative news movement but also deciding to do so in a scorched-earth manner.

"Months before a single vote was cast, Sean threw his full support, on both his television and radio programs, behind the most liberal candidate in a field of 17 Republicans," John Ekdahl of the popular conservative Ace of Spades blog said Monday. "Ultimately, he realizes this was a gigantic mistake, and now he's attacking those who continue to point it out." ...

Is that a conservative position now?

Trump never ran as a full-spectrum conservative, and don't look for him to roll back a lot of big government. That's not on the table. Trump is his own animal, and conservatives have a nice place at the table with Pence and Trump's list of Supreme Court picks. Romney or John Ellis Bush would have kick us to the curb. Instead, they are self-excommunicating. Dumping the Johnson rule is a Trump original and VERY conservative.

All of us were annoyed with George the Younger's Medicare Prescription Coverage and expansion of the Department of Ed. with No Child Left Behind. That didn't cause us to dump Bush when he got the nomination.

Right now, getting a grip on incoming Muslims, undoing Obama's executive orders, good SCOTUS picks, whittling back political correctness, and an environment where Mike Pence is characterized as the mild, centrist one of the ticket are all well worth fighting for.

Go Trump!

The number of Republicans who have come out against Trump is evidence that this was never about Democrat vs. Republican or liberal vs. conservative.

This election is about globalists vs. nationalists.

Erik Wemple, a media critic at The Washington Post

LOL, I really care about what he thinks. This article is pure manure.

That's a great political move, regardless of whether it is a "conservative position" or not.

1. It appeals to middle-class women.

2. Congress will never send a bill like this to Trump anyway.

I’ve grown sick and tired of him railing against the Never Trumpers.

Boy not me! I think they deserve every bit of criticism they receive. We are literally battling for the life of our country and these so called conservatives would rather have Clinton because they weren't able to drag their candidate across the finish line of the primary.

There is not one in that group of 17 who could have gotten down in the weeds and fought as Trump's done and Lord knows none of them could have drawn the crowds as he has. I truly believe as unconventional as he is he's the man for this time in our history, and it's really difficult for me to comprehend why everyone who is worried about what will happen to our country under Mrs. Clinton (btw--she hates that title) can't understand this.

First, this election is not about liberal vs.r conservative — it’s about the establishment vs. the people.

Bingo! That distinction is so sharp and clear that it ought to be obvious to thinking people - and yet so many well-known conservatives miss it entirely and mistakenly take the public's view as a personal affront.

Whether we speak of the "anti-American criminal establishment" on the left or the "self-serving and politically ineffective establishment" on the right, the public is yelling "enough".

“I was tired of Hannity in recent years. But I got to say, he has flat been right on track this election. He’s one of the only big hosts that truly gets what’s at stake. I have a whole new respect for him.”

+1

I am late to the ‘go Trump’ party - I voted for him in our primary mostly because all the others p!ssed me off by trashing him - but honestly, he’s our best hope for taking the fight to the Dems. GO TRUMP!!!

I support Hannity’s comments 100%!!!

This article is full of lies and half-truths! For example:

~~Months before a single vote was cast, Sean threw his full support, on both his television and radio programs, behind the most liberal candidate in a field of 17 Republicans,” John Ekdahl of the popular conservative Ace of Spades blog said Monday. . “Ultimately, he realizes this was a gigantic mistake, and now he’s attacking those who continue to point it out.”

That is not true. He gave all candidates an equal shot until each one dropped out, then he supported the NOMINEE!

~~”Hannity is absolutely out of control and fighting for his life as a person of standing,” Erik Wemple, a media critic at The Washington Post, recently told Business Insider. “His embrace of Trump is devoid of principle and reason and integrity, and he has reached the desperate point of lashing out at everyone to boost his own reputation.”

Yeah, right Wemple from WAPO is talking about PRINCIPLES?!?! Sheesh I agree with Hannity 100 percent!

And Pat Gray, the cohost of “The Glenn Beck Program,” asked on Facebook, “Who does this guy think he is, Heinrich Himmler?” He was referring to the high-ranking official in Nazi Germany. (Full disclosure: I previously worked for TheBlaze, a property owned by Beck.)

Most ironic since Pat’s Boss continually referred to Trump as Hitler! Blaze empire is doing down and I could not be happier.

If Hillary Clinton wins, if we don’t reunite with everyone and have all hands on deck, there’s no chance of stopping Hillary Clinton. Zero,” Beck said on his radio program. “So do not divide anymore. Please. Don’t divide anymore.”

The biggest divider during the campaign who now supports Black Lives Matter wants us to not divide anymore...Really rich! Sheesh!!

I AGERE WITH HANNITY AND HOLD THESE #NEVERTRUMPERS RESPONSIBLE IF HILLARY WINS. What will Hannity do if Hillary wins? I don’t know, but I will work to boycott their sponsors and take their shows off cable.

. . . and my point is that everyone already agrees with you, except for those who are paid not to. They were important especially around/between the Wisconsin and Indiana primaries, but after Cruz was humiliated by those smart-ass Trump supporters in Indiana, they haven’t mattered.

Professionally, of course it was risky for Sean to go all-in for Trump, and too early to boot, in the opinion of the self righteous Cruz faction and the UniParty tribe.

But for traditional Americans it was good to see a real man (TRUMP) back in the lights, and like Schlafly, it was good to see a traditionalist and an outsider take it to the slick, wordy candidates, with the same silver tongue know-it-all, propped up by globalist money. Sean caught that wave too.

Sean recognized the leader in that throng of talkers, all bought and paid for by NA Union, Wall Street and K Street and Chamber of “Commerce”.

FFFOXMegyn Corp probably hopes Sean crashes and burns.

I’m not a fan of Sean’s program style, but he’s got courage, like a lion. Sometimes there is a price for that kind of courage.

Sean does not think he made a mistake by endorsing Trump. This person knows nothing.

AMEN! And in fact I think he's enthusiastically supporting him.< Now Rush is a different matter. I don't understand him. First he said he didn't support any one candidate in the primary---well, I call Barbra Streisand on that one. He was Cruz all the way and you could tell. Now he says he supports Trump, but whenever he talks about him he always says "you Trump supporters", or "you Trump people" Sad.

With all due respect,

This election is about far more than conservatism. It just is.

It is about National Sovereignty versus Globalism and tyranny versus liberty.

If Trump does not win, USA as we have known it is over—so yeah, it is about Trump making some great political moves as well as everything else.
