Yes, half of Trump supporters are racist (barf)
Washington Post ^ | 12/9/16 | Dana Milbank

BALTIMORE — Hillary Clinton may have been unwise... But she wasn’t wrong.

If anything, when it comes to Trump’s racist support, she might have low-balled the number.

.....

But this isn’t a matter of gratuitous name-calling. This election has proved that there is much more racism in America than many believed. It came out of hiding in opposition to the first African American president, and it has been welcomed into the open by Trump.

The American National Election Studies, the long-running, extensive poll of American voters, asked voters in 2012 a basic test of prejudice: to rank black and white people on a scale from hardworking to lazy and from intelligent to unintelligent. The researchers found that 62 percent of white people gave black people a lower score in at least one of the attributes. This was a jump in prejudicial attitudes from 2008, when 45 percent of white people expressed negative stereotypes.

This question is a good indicator of how one votes: Republican Mitt Romney won 61 percent of those who expressed negative stereotypes. And, when the question was asked during the 2008 primaries, those with negative racial stereotypes consistently favored Republican candidates — any of them — over any Democratic candidate in hypothetical matchups.

“There is plenty of overt white prejudice,” observes Simon Jackman, who directed the ANES until earlier this year and now runs the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney. “Whites who reported prejudicial beliefs about blacks skewed heavily Republican in 2008 and 2012 — and they will in 2016.”

.....

In June, the Pew Research Center found that 79 percent of Clinton voters believe the treatment of racial and ethnic minorities is an important issue, while only 42 percent of Trump supporters feel that way....

Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. This editorial was published in WaPo, not the Slimes, although in the final analysis all separates them is what state they were incorporated in, so I can understand the confusion.

Yes, Trumpettes—man, woman, cat and dog—sleep at night in their KKK sheets and dream of black sheep jumping over a fence. In their dreams they twitch, bite, wiggle their tails and yell “noose!” Those Trumpette racist pigs, who happen to be police officers, yell “fire!” Of course, this is what the Left in their dreams think of the Trumpettes. What a nightmare they have become on the political landscape.

Since liberals are made up of the stupidest in every race, I guess I can’t argue with them.

Of course the typed rant is little more than a series of question begging assumptions. But the yet more obvious point is why does anyone feel the need to label people who honor and seek to preserve their heritage, anything other than normal.

How far we have fallen, when it is even necessary to explain that we--Trump supporters--are rallying to a man who honors the many generational struggle of a settler people to build on their rooted heritage; to pass on their multi-generational achievements to their posterity, precisely as the Constitution calls for them to do?

I can still remember the testimony of the then head of the American Legion to Congress around 1950, when he said that the time for apologetic Americanism is gone forever. Unfortunately--and very sadly--he appears to have been wrong. The Obama & Clinton crowd have been apologizing for American achievements, both at home & abroad.

What the writer calls "racist," loyal Americans since 1776 have called "patriotism." Come November--God Willing!--we will demonstrate the truth of that call once more!

Damn the Lies! Damn the Liars! We support Trump!

I’m sorry, but you really should read an article before responding to it.

The Washington Post has gone off the cliff. I’m tired of being told what is in my heart, or the hearts of others. The is communist style condemnation, pointing fingers.

This is utterly disgusting, and the stupidity and ignorance of people like Milbank is an indictment of the current system of higher education in the US.

I grew up in a neighborhood that saw lots and lots of bilateral racism. I know what it looks like, I know how destructive it is, and I abhor it. I've also seen the most incredible transformation of racism to acceptance, from both sides, that you can imagine - and this is never reported or embraced. I'm white, but grew up actually anti-white in a counter culture kind of way, and identified very much with black culture. As I've grown, I've come to see reality as reality - namely that we're all flawed human beings, mostly with the same desires, and hopes, and degree of selfishness.

What I also see is that everyday, ordinary people (i.e. those who are not narcissistic political charlatans) have been progressively getting beyond race, for years. At the same time, race profiteers are flourishing, and it's hurtful and disgusting.

I don't know much about Milbank, but Wiki says he grew up in Merrick, NY. The last census info I saw from that town is that it was 95.2% White, and 1% African American. So, like so many I've met when I was in college, Milbank is an expert without experience.

If you want to get beyond race, live with race, and deal with your differences. Then come talk to me Dana. The rest of us are living in a complex world in which having a D after your name doesn't mean that you are virtuous or good for minorities.

Hillary knows that's a lie and so does the Washington Post.

Now, in all honesty, there ar ea few -- a few -- Trump supporters who are unsavory characters. There are also some of Hillary's supporters who fall in that category. I wouldn't generalize from that and claim that all her supporters -- or even half -- are deplorable, despicable, undesirable people. They're wrong-headed, but that is a different thing.

(That's not to say the Klintoons and their inner circle aren't despicable people. They are. But most of her supporters are decent but misguided. Severely misguided.)

To spread this libel is dishonest and offensive, and the Post ought to be ashamed of itself.

I read the part of the article that you posted. I did not need to read what followed at the newspaper, to correctly observe that the writer simply begged one question after another. He blithely interprets other people's motives without any understanding of cause & effect or a great wealth of other interpretations.

Basically, he is disparaging patriotic Americans by calling them names, because they do not share his social & cultural prejudices, but seems too dense to even understand what he is doing.

If the balance of the article magically corrects all these flaws, I apologize; but based upon many decades of experience debating people who fall into these precise fallacies, I really doubt it. Your sample was quite long enough to offer repeated examples of my points.

All Americans who disagree with the Left are racists. It’s been their standard definition since forever. I thought we all knew this.

Did Dana Milbank have a sudden insight while passing a stool and think it was news?
