We are NOT "Alt-right"
Vanity | Pietro

Posted on 08/26/2016 7:14:09 AM PDT by Pietro

Freepers, we should not allow ourselves to be labeled w/ this recently coined phrase-its a trap!

We are Americans. Period.

The msm slimes will use this label to try and tie us to the most vile and despicable elements out there.

Reject it immediately.

Archive search shows its first appearance on FR was this spring. Very few articles ever on FR...16 total with the term in the title with the first on 30 March 2016.

Coupla yunguns around here think they discovered America. They'd be cute if they weren't so nippy.

So tell me, are you a "white supremacist"? Is that the correct term?

I dunno, are you?

"James von Brunn, the white supremacist who killed a security guard at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. on June 10, 2009, posted an article on another site questioning the citizenship of President Barack Obama (a view held by so-called "birthers"); the article was then pasted into a thread on Free Republic. The thread was deleted by moderators after the shooting, but later restored when a review found that it had not violated posting guidelines against racism and anti-Semitism.[51]"

Conservatism without a moral lodestar is just the tail of a big dog. It arrives at the same place as the dog, just a little later.

That was Hayek’s point when he said he was not a conservative, he was a old-style liberal, what we usually call a classic liberal.

If all you can do is dream about the good old days of Eisenhower or Goldwater or Reagan, then you will be forever dragged along by the culture instead of feeding life into the culture. We aren’t trying to conserve, we’re trying to grow and create and transform. With God as our architect.

We’re Constitutional Conservatives. I wish DJT would use that phrase to describe the movement.

Fortunately, he didn't use that phrase at the San Jose rally.

1) It's not a recently coined term, and they didn't coin it.

2) Who the hell cares what they call us? They'll always attempt to smear us with some weak-ass sh#t.

3) Stop being defensive.

4) Make them defensive about what WE call THEM: racist scaremongering fascists.

Which should terrify them because it's the damn truth. And will therefore stick.

I agree. The real meanings of labels is not a important as the perceived current day meanings of words.

This alt right nonsense is MSM and dems painting their opponents as nazi’s and white supremists. Don’t laugh it off. This is aimed for the moderates and independents that don’t pay close attention. Perceptions matter.

“Conservatism is as much a force for social entropy as liberalism is, if only through ineffectiveness and lack of foresight rather than outright malice. “

Agree 100%.

“Conservatives” need a plan. A 100 year plan.

First you crab about it being a nothing burger that only fools buy into, then you act like "yunguns" think they discovered the wheel.

So which is it?

Yes. But the problem is that even old-style classical liberalism had way too much Enlightenment in it, and not enough eternal principles. Classical liberalism itself is essentially a modernistic philosophy which invariably trajectoried itself toward godlessness and neo-liberalism.

Alt usually means hippie. Look at Alt-Country. What’s wrong with regular Country? Or consider those alternative weeklies and the ads they have,

A google news search shows it getting only 151,000 hits.

That’s not many, so it, too, indicates something new.

"All of the answers are #alt-right."

Ok. So what is the "essence" that your are conserving, as opposed to the labels that are being applied TO YOU by our mutual antagonists?

Keep in mind that Google doesn’t index most of the social media where alt-Righters tend to hang out.

even old-style classical liberalism had way too much Enlightenment in it, and not enough eternal principles.

I agree with you. I'm not aware that Hayek was religious in any sense.

No political philosophy can sustain the society if God has been excised from its center.

With a grasp of eternal transcendent principles, almost any philosophy can serve as a starting point, but even the most perfect philosophy will fail us without God at the center.

A free and moral society has to be built upon a free and moral people, its a chicken and egg thing. If people have lost touch with their Creator, it doesn't really matter what you do philosophically, it is headed ultimately for the cliff. That is our problem. What we were trying to "conserve", or rather build, was launched by God-believers and can only be sustained by a critical mass of God-believers. There is your problem and there is the direction where our solution lies. :)
