We are NOT "Alt-right"
Vanity | Pietro

Posted on 08/26/2016 7:14:09 AM PDT by Pietro

Freepers, we should not allow ourselves to be labeled w/ this recently coined phrase-its a trap!

We are Americans. Period.

The msm slimes will use this label to try and tie us to the most vile and despicable elements out there.

Reject it immediately.

Let me ask; where did the term originate?

If I understand correctly, the loosely knit online community started using the name well over a year ago. 4chan and advanced internet types, Twitter users. Breitbart has some older articles about alt-right.

A weakness the left continues to exploit. Much to the detriment of the country.

Yes. I've often challenged Ted Cruz style "constertooshunul conservutives!" to name one thing that conservatism has actually managed to conserve. They can't.

Conservatism is a failure. It hasn't preserved the Constitution. It hasn't preserved social conservatism. It hasn't even preserved economic conservatism. It hasn't preserved anything. Conservatism is as much a force for social entropy as liberalism is, if only through ineffectiveness and lack of foresight rather than outright malice.

I've seen the term used for at least two years now, maybe longer. However, it's mostly in the sort of social media and alt-forums that most FReepers have no idea even exist, which is why there is this sudden "discovery" of the term, which has apparently taken a bunch of people by surprise.

Vox Day has a fairly succinct summation of the general trend in what it means to be "Alt-Right" - What the Alt Right is

We’re Constitutional Conservatives. I wish DJT would use that phrase to describe the movement.

Oh, I'm sure the leftards at Wikipedia have written up unflattering articles about the Alt-Right.

But then again, they also have unflattering articles about Free Republic, too.

"The alt-right has no official ideology, but various sources have described it as a loosely-defined conservative movement that is associated with white nationalism,[6][7][8] white supremacism,[2][6][9][10] antisemitism,[2][6][11][8] right-wing populism,[12][13] nativism,[14] and the neoreactionary movement.[1][15][16]"

I guess if the shoe fits you should wear it.

So tell me, are you a "white supremacist"? Is that the correct term?

Archive search shows its first appearance on FR was this spring. Very few articles ever on FR...16 total with the term in the title with the first on 30 March 2016.

The question for "conservatives" is, "what are you conserving?"

Not "what do you call what you are conserving?", or "what is the name of what you are conserving?"

No, the real question is, "what is the essence of what you are conserving?", or, since they've conserved nothing, "why have you failed to conserve anything?"

All of the answers are #alt-right.

I am just saying be aware that the left is making a consorted effort to tie the Alt Right with White supremacist and antisemitism and the like.

I think to me it’s conservatism without the globalism. On Wikipedia the page on the topic is all about fascism and racism etc. so it’s become perjorative already.

Well, another part of the problem is that the alt-Right is, in general, a younger movement. No offence is intended, but the average FReeper is some 60-year old guy sitting around in a plaid shirt grousing about "these kids and their stupid Tweeter." Not the kind of person who will be hanging out on 4chan or Gamergate or Slack.

Exactly. Conservatives don’t even get why they’re failures because they don’t even understand the terms that need to be used, much less how to go about putting them into action.

Conservatives are terrible at “rectifying the names.”
