There IS a large swath of America that feels like you (and I) do. But America is where it is - in a pretty bad place - because of the people not despite their will. Whether by deceit or trickery or moral decline or craven greed, the people (a majority of them anyway) brought us here...and pretty quickly.
So if it is “tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies” that is necessary, if they can stomach only gruel, not solid food, then that’s where we have to go to entice them into doing what is needed.
Oh my. I did not expect this. I figured the poll would seesaw a little with Trump eventually taking the lead.
Partly in jest, but not all. Not drinking, either.
Not knocking USC Dornsife / LA Times Poll (I hope they are right), just presenting a scenario that most people think “could never happen.”
Remember, we have “professional” journalists who say Trump is SO destructive that they feel it is their job to bring him down.
Remember the “Journolist” from 2010? It DID happen. I’m sure they have replaced that with a much larger and stronger team to do whatever they can to knock Trump down. One of many stories at this link from 7/25/2010:

Do you not think that there are “professional” pollsters, as well, who feel the same way? There are likely people who would gladly join together in a “Pollsterlist” and follow my scenario to the letter if they could get away with it. We have people in the Republican party who are going after Trump, so why wouldn’t some pollsters?
With the “professional” journalists to cover for them, pollsters might BE able to get away with fudging the numbers to achieve their goal.

I’m just taking something that happened in 2010 and several things that are happening now, an speculating on what could happen (or may already be happening) if these people took it to the next step.
I’m sure they have thought about it already.
