We are pretty far gone.
In normal times, the federales would have to propose a Constitutional Amendment in order to add to Article I Section 8 of what the people and the states permit it to do.
How much worse would life be if we just shitcanned the EPA?
***********
I’ll take that as an honest question... I believe every state has their own environmental department and some states standards exceed the national standards (calif) ... other than for testing new cars and making lawsuits easier by allowing federal suits instead of perhaps a suit involving 4 individual states and a single powerplants emissions I see no advantage. If it’s not a constitutional agency shut it down.
I don’t know why “they” just don’t do the obvious. Simply ban non-essential travel. (Including ground vehicles.)
Don’t fly to visit the grandchildren — or drive. Stay home.
Go to work in a computer-organized car pool, and only fly for business purposes. “Regulated and Approved” business travel, of course. Perhaps a licensing and logging computerized system, run by a new GovDome agency.
We could call it The Travel Facilitation and Control Agency.
Attempts at unlicensed, unreported, unpermitted travel would be dealt with harshly.
The quaint but unnecessary tradition of “Vacation” would, of course, be banned. Everyone should relax and recreate either at home, or at nearby governmental recreation facilities.
/sarc off (...for the humor challenged.)

The most effective way to reduce emissions would be to require the airplanes to shut off their engines below 10,000 feet.
No kidding.
Aviation accounts for less than 3% of greenhouse gas emissions.
State agencies can do a better job of making sure the air and water aren’t polluted because they live there. The US EPA is unnecessary. And having had a bit of experience working with them, the agency philosophy is out of control crazy-liberal. Some where to the left of Bernie Sanders.
The will have no impact on green private jet setters. They will be exempt with bogus offsets.
Trump has talked about doing just that.
Ground Air Force One before anything else.
Actually, those old, more polluting airliners are headed for the scrapyard like Mojave Airport, Victorville Airport, and Pinal Airpark near Marana, AZ. Mostly because they’re just old, period. Besides, this law will ensure Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, and Embraer will be building and selling new planes to the airlines (those old planes’ parts can be melted down and used to build new planes).
Somehow I don’t see how a Catalytic Converter can be installed on the back of a 50,000 lb. thrust jet engine and stay there, but I’m certainly not as smart as President Obama.
But in the end, what will happen is that the Airlines (and/or manufactures) will not do anything, and they’ll pay the billions in fines...which means HIGHER TICKET PRICES.
It’s insane that a single Supreme Court decision can give a president the power to tax without having to bother with Congress...but then that’s why my days in this country may be numbered.
Wanna hear something really scary. I was born before the middle of the last century. Now THAT is scary. LOL!
TSA was enough to get me to quit flying.
I guess too many people were willing to submit to their abuse so the EPA has to be utilised to discourage more people from flying.
Disband TSA, EPA, BATFE, and several more alphabet agencies
I’m thinking this is a give me for Boeing/Airbus to sell airliners new jets as they are forced to upgrade their fleets with new aircraft.

I wish I had kept an article from a climate activist in the UK. It was the only article which painted a realistic picture of the changes that would have to be made in order to achieve the goals of limiting temperature increases to 2 degrees C.
One of his findings was that air travel would have to become almost non-existant. Fewer than 100 takeoffs/landings in the UK annually. A family vacation with air travel would be a once in a lifetime experience.
Only farmers would be allowed to live in the country. Everyone else would have to move to high density housing. No heat or air in housing or work places. Lot’s more.
Thank goodness policies can be eliminated or changed without legislative fiat.
Go Trump/Pence!
They are phasing out older AC, but this is like cash for clunkers removing vehicles with economic value being scrapped early. There is a cost of interfering with the phase out cycle.
Mericans don’t mind paying more for tickes. after all, it’s for the children and Pangea.
Note my tag line. Only did the one hitch though. Dad did 32 years. But, I was hatched at Bethesda Naval Hospital so does that count towards my time in service? LOL!
