How is Trump spending his money?

Posted on 08/10/2016 6:24:02 AM PDT by MNDude

It was recently reported that Trump brought in $80 million in July and he so far has spent $0 on TV advertisement. Does anyone know how he's spending it, or is he saving it up for after Labor Day?

“...and media hostility and gaffes have kept him off balance...”

The gaffes are media created. They are as nothing compared to the witch’s but the media hides hers.

Hey I’m all for Trump - have been since he announced.

We have a saying over about what we call squeaky bum time.

i.e. the exciting final minutes of a sporting event - not sure it would be wise to wait until then in such an avalanche of opposition.

The Dems have used negative ads in advance to good effect in presidential campaigns previously—where they can define a candidate negatively before the GOP gets in gear.

True, but Trump’s lack of discipline and poor political tradecraft make him vulnerable to such tactics, which every Republican nominee must deal with. As Machiavelli famously urged, a political leader should aim to have the strength of a lion in a fight to defeat enemies, with the cleverness of a fox to avoid snares and traps. Republican primary voters embraced Trump because he obviously has fighting spirit and strength, but it is an open question as to whether, for the general election, he has necessary cleverness.

I am wondering the same thing. I sent in a donation a few weeks ago, but am holding off sending anymore until I know what the heck the campaign is doing with the money on hand?

I have a son who runs candidates for elected office. He recently took over a large area of a key state for the Trump campaign. He tells me both the GOP and Trump are woefully under organized. The technology the GOP uses is pre-2000 and there is resistance to updating it to the technology that is currently being licensed from Koch in Virginia. The people on the ground have little or no idea on how to organize and manage a campaign. Trump goes around the country drawing crowds in excess of 20,000 and no one is there taking down names, getting volunteers, ensuring they are registered, etc. In Virginia, where I live, the Democrats are everywhere registering voters. From what my son tells me and from what I can glean from 3rd party reports in key states, the GOP does not take winning elections seriously. A good ground game can drive up turn out by 5%. In states like Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania this is the difference between a Trump victory or loss. The Trumpers are scrambling to put together a semi-effective structure and I suspect much of the funding is being spent in this area. Times like this Trump needs to draft the organizing skills of Jeff Roe.

And Romney's crowds were every bit as big as Trump's.

People wanted to see for themselves whether Mormons really had three horns and a tail.

Maybe Trump will start showing ads tomorrow night when Pre-Season football starts.

I am not at all surprised by your observations.

Democrats eat/sleep/breathe politics 24/7/365. It’s who they are, it’s what they do.

The rest of us enjoy having actual lives.

I think registration is huge. Trump has energized people outside of the party identifications, who haven’t voted in years...and may have changed address or fallen off the rolls for some reason. Should be handing out forms at the rallies.

You know people get REALLY SICK of being carpet bombed with negative advertising people start tuning it out!!! Then there is the attention span of Americans today you need to advertise RIGHT BEFORE voting occurs American people today do NOT retain information for long the ads NEED to be FRESH in their minds!! I totally trust Mr. Trumps judgement he hasn’t been wrong yet this BITCH IS GOING DOWN, WE have always wanted a fighter he is going to take her out so HARD AND FAST she won’t have time to recover!!! NO TIME after the damage IS done to recouperate!!! He IS also giving the media enough rope to just hang themselves for the LYING BASTARDS they are!!!! THEN BAM they the media will ALSO not be listened to when the BOMBS start falling against HELLARY!!! Mr. Trump is running the campaign spending money WISELY what the HELL good did it do JEB! with his 130 million in advertising DID HE WIN.........

The only thing about waiting until that close to the election is that so many people vote early, and states are moving it earlier all the time.

Now would be the time to run Hillary ads where she did in fact refer directly to assassination of her opponents.

Trump can’t wait for the media to do it for him.

But, despite the hysteria of the MSM, the voting is far away. The MSM generates the hysteria and acts as if the voting will take place tomorrow.

I predict someone will finally get to Trump and have him abandon his parenthetical remarks.

He isn’t.

I began to think a few weeks ago his strategy is to ride out July and August and begin a blitz in mid-September.

His has been an unorthodox campaign from the get go. It won’t be any different when it comes to spending money-—but he will spend it.

These are minor expenses compared to ad buys.

I will be shocked if he doesn’t unleash a massive ad campaign about mid-September.
