LIVE THREAD: Ryan vs Nehlen Wisconsin 1st Congressional District Primary 8/09/2016
WisPolitics.com ^

Posted on 08/09/2016 9:50:32 AM PDT by nikos1121

1st CD, Republican: Incumbent Paul Ryan, of Janesville, and Paul Nehlen, of Williams Bay.

I absolutely have nothing on this election, so I thought I'd start a thread, and we can add to it as information comes in. Some polls have Ryan way ahead, and a few find it less certain. On the other hand, wasn't this the climate before the Cantor election? He was sitting fat dumb and happy with a big lead in the polls?

If I were a betting man, I'd have to put my money on Ryan and by all counts, he's a very popular guy up there, but then again, so is Obama.

NO one knows. Ryan, very cocky. He expects to win in a landslide.

I was surprised how many on FR still back Ryan over Nehlen. Weird!

I get the idea the majority of us are praying for Ryan to lose. Do they not allow polls up there?

Sarah Palin
Ann Coulter
Laura Ingraham
Lou Dobbs
General Paul Valleley
Michelle Malkin
Donald Trump JR
Diamond and Silk

I’ve seen tweets and links to ads including all of these people, except Jr. I’ve just seen his tweet of support for Nehlen.

” I was surprised how many on FR still back Ryan over Nehlen. Weird!”

No it’s not weird. I caught a coouple of “Freepers” who even think fags are normal. Also one “gun rights guy” who stated that homos are more conservative than straight gun rights guys. We have plants here too bud

Ann Coulter was out there last Sat for a rally that drew about 50 people (so the report goes). Looked for photos of the event but none showed crowd shots.

Trump supported Ryan the same way a brother apologizes to his sister when his mother is standing beside him with the wooden spoon.

Yes, the Republicans will get routed, because we will not vote for a Party that betrays Trump like they have. If it means the GOP becomes irrelevant, so be it.

Cantor knew the day before the election that he was probably done. They were also getting bad tracking numbers as early as the prior Wednesday and by the weekend, they knew they were in serious trouble.

What Mr. Ryan knows is not yet known.

Unfortunately, most voters go with the status quo. In PA we had a Rep, Fitzgerald. He couldn’t run again so his brother stepped in. His brother has a very liberal slant and his primary opponent very conservative.

Fitzgerald won in a landslide primarily because of name recognition.

I hope he is more conservative than Ryan! I don’t know anything about him.

I don't either. But I know plenty about Paul Ryno, so seeing him lose his seat is what matters.

I kind of feel the same way about Trump; I don't know what to expect from him, but I DO know what to expect from Hillary and I ain't havin' that.

I would guess Nehlen is more popular nationwide with Trump supporters than he is with southern Wisconsin Republicans.

Where do you see a single FR person supporting Ryan?! I have never seen one, not one.

There are a few. Freepers from Wisconsin. Some folks will throw out their principles and support the progressive Ryan agenda to enjoy the cache of having a Speaker from their area.

While I am for Paul Nehlen and believe Ryan to be a back-stabbing, uniparty, establishment stooge; it’s hard to get around all those polls showing Ryan with anywhere from a 60 to 80 point lead. Unfortunately I don’t think it will be close but I pray I’m totally wrong and will happily eat crow if I am.
