1st CD, Republican: Incumbent Paul Ryan, of Janesville, and Paul Nehlen, of Williams Bay.
I absolutely have nothing on this election, so I thought I'd start a thread, and we can add to it as information comes in. Some polls have Ryan way ahead, and a few find it less certain. On the other hand, wasn't this the climate before the Cantor election? He was sitting fat dumb and happy with a big lead in the polls?
If I were a betting man, I'd have to put my money on Ryan and by all counts, he's a very popular guy up there, but then again, so is Obama.

I thought everyone was for Nehlen. The Wisconsinites I have spoken to seem to be. I was surprised how many on FR still back Ryan over Nehlen. Weird!
I personally think Ryan will win it (the margin will be interesting though), Wisconsin 1st is nowhere near as conservative as Cantors district was in Virginia, more of a center-right district, perfect for Ryan’s brand of limp wristed quasi-conservatism.

Two things are in Nehlen’s favor. Low turnout is expected (< 20%), and it is an open primary (i.e., Dems can vote for the Republican they perceive as weaker).
Yes, the only hope is that Democrat voters cross over.
It makes me wonder now, how in the heck did Cantor get beat? By all accounts he should have wiped the floor with his opponent.
Has Sarah Palin, or anyone come out for Nehlen? I don’t see anyone. IF he wins, it will be the biggest upset in a long time.

Cantor was not Speaker and was by all accounts in an engaged voter district. Ryan is Speaker and as we saw in the primaries Wisconsin “conservatives” are easily herded sheep.

I hope he is more conservative than Ryan! I don’t know anything about him.
Palin endorsed him. Unfortunately Trump did not. I’m sure Trump will welcome his victory should he win. I have supported Nehlen, even contributed to his campaign. If he loses, I’ll do the same with Ryan’s Democratic opponent.
