Mike Pence ‘strongly’ endorses Paul Ryan, as Trump refuses to do the same

As Donald Trump holds off endorsing House Speaker Paul D. Ryan in Wisconsin's Republican primary, his running mate enthusiastically endorsed Ryan on Wednesday, calling him a “longtime friend” and “strong conservative leader.”

“I strongly support Paul Ryan, strongly endorse his reelection,” Indiana Gov. Mike Pence said during an interview on Fox News on Wednesday afternoon. “I believe we need Paul Ryan in leadership in the Congress of the United States to rebuild our military, to strengthen our economy and to ensure that we have the kind of leadership in this country that will make America great again.”

Trump has angered his party's leadership by refusing to endorse Ryan or Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in their primary campaigns. Both Ryan and McCain have endorsed Trump but have remained critical of many of his comments, including Trump's ongoing public feud with the parents of a Muslim American soldier killed in 2004. Wisconsin holds its primary Tuesday and the Arizona primary is later this month. In an interview with The Washington Post on Tuesday, Trump praised Ryan’s underdog opponent, Paul Nehlen.

Less likely to happen with DJT because unlike 99% of career politicians, there are no rich donor puppet masters pulling Trump’s strings. Those ultra rich donors benefit enormously by exporting manufacturing to low labor cost countries and importing cheap foreign workers to displace middle class American workers. Trump owes no one anything, except the American people and it’s workers who have given him so much.

True THAT.

TRUMP has no use for Ryan and will not endorse him. I think candidates for president, while in an active general election campaign, seldom endorse.

Besides, this is the year of the outsider. Ryan is no outsider.

Pence was supposed to help unite the elite republicans, and the so called “conservatives” who have achieved nothing, behind Trump. I really do not know if he is succeeding in that goal.

Pence is just another liberal democrat pretending to be a patriot.

I saw that, but there us a ton of ballyhooing about Pence being a traitor, how stupid this was, blah, blah, blah. Freepers brains seem to have fallen out. Thought it needed a reply.

Yeah, but Freepers chant the Gingrich “baggage” mantra instead of paying attention to his 2012 positions and debating points.

Yes, Ryan is bad for America. We have got to get rid of every Muslim plus millions of Hispanics. Add a number of Orientals too. We have all kinds from all over who crossed that Mexican border.

OK, if Pence wants to endorse Ryan or play the peacemaker, that’s his business. But, to say Ryan “strong conservative leader” is puking ridiculous.

I read the article. Donald Trump was ok with Mike Pence endorsing his good buddy Paul Ryan while Trump withheld endorsement.

Senior GOP officials endorsing specific candidates in primary elections? How is this different than what Debbie Wasserman Shultz and the DNC did to Sanders and his supporters?

These are PRIMARIES! It’s supposed to be up to the people to decide, not the establishment! No GOP leader should be putting their thumbs on the scale - it should be a fair fight - let the best candidate win!

Otherwise why even have primary elections, just go off into a smoke filled room and pick whatever crony the establishment wants!

This is why so many of us on both sides of the aisle are so pissed off!

Actually, trace the conversation back. Reading comprehension seems to be your problem, not mine.

What a loser... WHO CARES WHO YOUR FRIEND IS!!! This is the future of the country. Paul Ryan is TPP! Paul Ryan is Syrian Refugee express! Paul Ryan is the speaker allowing Obama to do what he wants like executive orders an an 800 Billion dollar increase of Budget! .

Perhaps even worse, Ryan is in line for the Oval Office right after the VP.

Trump should take this position: If Ryan wins his primary, I’ll endorse him. If Nehlen wins, I’ll endorse him. Whomever wins the primary, I’ll endorse.

I thought Newt was endorsing Trump, yet he seemed a lot more supportive before Trump chose a running mate.

As I said, I sincerely hope he does not disappoint us, and priority #1 is to defeat Hillary.

However, what disturbs me more than anything else is Trump's obsession with Bernie voters, I don't see how we have any common ground at all with them other than on trade.
