What Trump Should Have Said about Khizr Khan’s Speech
American Thinker ^ | August 2, 2016 | Jonathan F. Keiler

Donald Trump’s imbroglio with the parents of slain Army officer Humayun Khan is another example of his instincts gone awry. On the one hand he was correct to see the speech of Khan pere as a blatant Democrat ploy to attack Trump’s on Muslim immigration. However, Trump’s tendency to personalize everything and attack the Khans themselves was a mistake. Trump should have harnessed his instincts in order to make an effective attack on Hillary and the DNC rather than involving himself in a losing battle with the bereaved parents of a dead soldier.

Khizr Khan’s speech at the Democrat convention, while perhaps moving, was also shameless, in that he lent the sacrifice and heroism of his son to a highly partisan political party in the midst of a hotly contested election. The typical instinct of an ordinary Republican politician to such a brazen Democrat tactic would be to shrink away, in this case by either by ignoring the speech in hopes people forget, or legitimizing it hopes of appearing kinder and gentler. To Trump’s credit he did not do that, and his unconventional reaction to Democrat drama, whether in the form of convention speeches or hacked emails, is at least refreshing, and to his die hard supporters the essence of what they see in the man.

Trump is pretty blunt sometimes.

What he really seemed to be getting at was something like “Mr. Khan, aren’t you being used in an unseemly manner by the Democrats?” But again there were Mr. Khan’s actual documented allegiances.

Trump’s approach wasn’t necessarily the best. But it wasn’t necessarily the worst either. It’s light years ahead of politically correct cover ups.

Good post yours.

This Khan fellow is evidently an Islamist. But Trump is not running against Khan. He’s running against Hillary. Trump’s focus should be on her.

He said nothing until asked about it.

And when asked his response was beyond mild.

I am not sure how it is that I know this and somehow these professional researchers and writers somehow can not manage to find it with all their expertise.

Either they are very bad at their job, (which I find easy to believe) or they are lazy, (which I also find easy to believe) or they are on the demonrat payroll, (which I also find easy to believe).

So which is it?

*nothing* is what he should have said.

Agreed. Or at least take some time and have a well thought out response. Trump's itch to go to social media on a moment's notice could end up being his downfall.

*Nothing* is what the GOP always does and says.

*Nothing* is the extent of the GOP’s achievements and accomplishments.

That’s why we nominated Trump instead of one of their usual failure experts.

I advise Trump to get off Twitter & all social media and let his handlers speak for him...
And not to jump on everything thing that floats by . .

Well, his situation did get outed, if rudely. Sometimes there is no less painful way than to rip the band-aid right off the wound, swiftly. God knows what is best in various circumstances.

This is what Paul Manafort and Mike Pence have made a klusterfuck of in their apologies to terrorists.

I am beginning to have doubts about Pence

He is too independent rather than backing Trump 100%

That is not good

Yep. It’s Khan’s fault for putting himself out there when all his affairs were not in order. He wanted the spotlight, well, he got it.

I’ve seen a lot of Christians out there oy-veying about how “Trump runs his mouth” — to the point of saying that Trump is just another plain evil like Hillary — but again the thing that might make a moderately polite society go along quite well, is going to fail when faced with industrial strength mendacity that just won’t get the polite hint that it ought to be doing something different next time around.

I have heard people that have been around Trump, that his presence is so astounding that it over takes a lot of people...I have never met him or talked to him, but I did talk to an individual the other day on the phone that has met him...Trump is ‘all powering’ and he said that he just over whelms you...

This could have the same affect on Pence...I trust Trump's judgment, I trust everything about Trump, so I don't worry...and look, yesterday Trump fired two of his staff, and he fired Corey, so if there is something there, he wouldn't have picked Pence...

It hit me all at once of the absurdity going on.

I would have preferred Trump's reply to Kahn to have been,
"I appreciate the sacrifice made my their son, thankfully, most grateful Americans don't have to deal with such a grievous loss. I sympathize with these grieving parents. An I remind all Americans that when it came time to sacrifice, HILLARY!, decided it would be preferable to sacrifice the lives of four brave Americans than to risk her political career."

I’m not so certain about “fer sures” any more in criticism of Donald.

This evinced a questionable screed from the missus, bringing the Democrat flank forward for a more vigorous attack.

I might not have planned it this way... but I think we are looking at something whose influence is of supernatural scope.
