SHE SAID SHE SAID

I'd fire him.

If somebody derailed my convention and embarrassed my wife, I'd fire him.

Not the speechwriter.

The campaign manager.

This situation in which Melania Trump's speech at the Republican National Convention included two plagiarized sections is so needless and destructive, it is such a self-inflicted wound, that you almost wonder if it was sabotage.

It is easier to imagine someone wanting to torpedo the Trump campaign than it is to think that anyone getting paid to write would be so stupid and unethical as to steal someone else's words.

Also, to be honest, it's astounding to think that a team of people hired to write a speech about a woman's admiration of her husband would need to read much less steal another person's thoughts on the subject.

For that point, why does it take a team of people to express one person's thoughts?

And how is it that something that would get a 10th-grader flunked in English class ends up being in the repertoire of a presidential campaign?

I'm flabbergasted.

And I'm not some Democrat shill. I'm a Republican. I've been on the Trump train since Iowa. I'm going to vote for Donald Trump in November and I'm going to encourage others to do the same. I've even offered my services as a speech writer to someone speaking at the convention.

And this dumbfounds even me.

It's as if the Clinton campaign hacked the computers and inserted a couple of paragraphs as a poison pill.

But that's not what happened.

The possible future first lady of the United States seems to have misrepresented the primary authorship of her speech in an interview with Matt Lauer, and after plagiarism popped up in her speech, the campaign denied its existence and said that the criticisms were nothing more than partisan sniping.

Un-frigging-believable.

The impact is to brand Melania Trump as a joke in the public mind. Look for a trending hashtag. That stain won't wash away anytime soon. The matter also took an entire day of the convention -- 25 percent of the whole -- and made it about this self-inflected wound. When folks woke up Tuesday morning, they didn't hear about Rudy Giuliani's tremendously provocative speech, or Marcus Latrell's touching words, or even the tears of a woman who blames her son's death in Benghazi on Hillary Clinton. The news wasn't about securing our shores or patrolling our streets, it wasn't about taking care of veterans or fighting terrorists, it was about plagiarism.

It was an embarrassment and a distraction.

The party-approved campaign manager, the almost creepy guy with the lounge-lizard affect, had screwed the pooch. This is the big game, this is the moment of opportunity, and somebody put on a suicide vest. It is just incredible.

It continues the narrative of Trump being a tone-deaf screwup. It prompts new questions about Trump's ability to manage and lead. If you can't have stability in your campaign, if you can't have consistent and appropriate performance in your operation, how the hell are you going to run the country? You say you're great at running golf courses and wineries, but what about the relatively simpler process of keeping a campaign on track?

Manafort should go.

The professional-politician hack who Trump brought on to satisfy the party bosses who hate him. He should go. It was his watch, it was his job, and he screwed the pooch.

So he should go.

Before the next bomb on this snake-bit campaign is dropped.

I was annoyed yesterday and felt that the speech was purposely sabatoged as well and that the person ought be fired.

Now upon reflection I am coming to the conclusion and realization that it could have been a Trump family member who inadvertently and entirely by accident ended up including the Wookie snippet - or not - however:

I am now in the

LET IT GO! LET IT GO! entirely camp. (Elsa copyright - not a Disney fan, but this does fit)

I totally agree. WHY are people so concerned about nothing unless their only motive is to throw mud? THIS COUNTRY has BIG PROBLEMS. Address the issues, not scummy crap playing a blame game.

It seems to me that before everything became so fouled up by lawyers, a man was as good as his word and his word was his bond.

But, I guess that phrase which used to be so common isn't common any more.

If it was sabotage it was pretty lame sabotage. On the other hand, our irresponsible national media has made it the biggest news of the week.

Here:

The NYT, a propaganda organization masking as journalism making this online news two days later proves beyond all else how minor the Trumped up “crisis” is. Those bothering to check will likely find that Michelle’s sentence was also an adaptation from other speeches.

My first thought was why would Matt Lauer ask her if she wrote the speech. Strange question IMO.

He was tipped off. Too bad she fell for it. Heads need to roll.

So now there is suddenly supposed to be some rule that you can’t use stuff somebody else said in a speech? Didn’t seem to be a rule when Obama did it, or when Biden did it. And you know for sure that is won’t be a rule next time some Democrat did it. Searching for who is responsible is going along with the liberal fiction that something wrong or even unusual happened. And the “plagiarized” section! Michelle Obama is supposed to have made up hard work and keeping your word? She got that fro a dozen other peoples political speeches. It’s stupid to play the liberals game, instead hit Hillary for bringing up BS like this.

I don’t think it was sabotage. My gut feeling is that it was some lazy speechwriter’s too cute by half idea to have Melania say the same words Moochie did, and then when everyone praised Melania, the “brilliant” idea was to have someone “discover” that the same words were spoken by Ms. Bulge to lukewarm reception.

“Ha-Ha”, they thought would be the end result, “look at what a dud Michelle is and Melania is such a star in comparison! They both said the same words with dramatic difference”.

Well, the half-baked idea didn’t go over so well.

I believe this is the real reason because it’s been my experience countless times that when only two possible reasons for an act remain, conspiracy or stupidity, stupidity is usually the reason.

Yes, someone should be fired. Whoever was directly responsible for the problematic portions of the speech, from the writer(s) to yes even Manafort if he was directly responsible for reviewing it. I pointed out how he was a party hack when he replaced Lewendowski, and how it seemed it was a bit hypocritical to praise the use of Manfort’s talents on Trump’s campaign and condemn the use of Bush’s talents on Cruz’s.

Then I got flamed for being a “Cruz bot” and the comparison was dismissed out of hand for that “reason”.

Well enjoy. Not that anyone will admit both were infections to both campaigns even now.

Manafort is a liability and needs to go. As soon as the convention adjourns, he needs to go.

Not so sure I agree-

At first I was pretty surprised- but then the talk quickly turned to the plagiarism committed by Michelle O herself AND Biden AND Obama AND HilLIARy... And several hilarious memes about the democrats suddenly caring about honest and integrity and the comparison of how they care about 50 words in a speech but not 3000 emails by their candidate...

Someone even suggested it might have been an ‘own goal’ on purpose to sandbag the opponents while they were squealing in delight.

That shut down some of the talk immediately- but not all, and it never will.

They are still trying to push ANYTHING except the contents of the great speeches that followed.

How do you plagiarize universal common sense and truth, such as work hard for what you want, do what you say you will do,
etc? These are things any responsible parent would teach their children, no? This is all a msm-Rat attempt to besmirch Melania and by extention Donald Trump.
