Scuttlebutt on FoxNews was the opposite, the speech was not vetted by the campaign. That can be spun in opposite directions, one being that the campaign is incompetent for allowing that (it is unheard of, unconventional, risks the convention tenor, etc.); the other way is that it is magnanimous and wise to allow a friend?/foe? the rope to reveal themselves.

I’m liking Mike Pence just fine. Great balance yet in his own way a very strong and effective communicator. No wonder he’s had such a good run in government service, now all he needs is a great boss who will set the right agenda and MAGA.
