Ted Cruz Rewrites Primary History
The Wall Street Journal ^ | July 18, 2016 | Allysia Finley

Posted on 07/18/2016 8:11:00 PM PDT by monkapotamus

Ted Cruz is expected to use his speech Wednesday night in Cleveland to tee up a future presidential bid..

Mr. Cruz blamed his defeat principally on the media, which “liked to paint me as some whacked-out theocrat” and putatively gave Donald Trump $3 billion in free publicity...

Fact check: Mr. Cruz won the Wisconsin primary in early April with the help of the so-called establishment that he loves to hate... in the preceding primaries, Mr. Cruz had gone one for 10..

After winning Wisconsin, Mr. Cruz went on a six-state losing streak in the Northeast...

“Mr. Cruz blamed his defeat principally on the media, which “liked to paint me as some whacked-out theocrat”....”

And why do you suppose they did that Ted? Could it be because you deliberately made an issue of your supposed piety? Cruz is the pure cynical politician who is willing to change his colors to portray himself in whatever way he feels will best serve his ambition. He believes in nothing.

He tried the devout routine and found that it didn’t get him as far as he thought. Now he wants to distance himself from that. I envision Cruz totally reinventing himself over the next few years. He may believe it’s his path to future greatness, but in reality it will cause the few people who still take him seriously to abandon him. He will end up as a pathetic has-been.

If people think that the ‘Never Trumps’ are obnoxious, just wait until the ‘Never Cruz’ machine gets fired up.

Cruz's Constitutional ineligibility is enough, but his incredible hypocrisy on so many other levels is so completely indefensible that the political books will have to finally be renewed with actual cred and other legitimate back up.

There is just no way. I don’t think he’s stupid enough to bash Trump in his speech*, but I believe he will avoid talking about Trump. He’s “addressing the delegates,” so he’ll thank them and toot his own horn. There is just no way this guy can bring himself to say something nice about Trump. He’s consumed by his hatred. Oh, and he wants him to lose so he can be our savior in 2020.

* - With Cruz, one shouldn’t underestimate his capacity for stupidity. He showed it throughout the campaign.

“A Carly Shanghai style trap door for Cruz would be legend :)”

That would be fantastic!! Better than having the creep booed off the stage. He’ll be booed under the stage ;0)

Cruz lost me when his campaign pulled that dirty trick on Ben Carson in Iowa.

I voted for Cruz in the TX primary; that was before all the shenanegans with stealing delegates. That was very undignified and made Cruz look bad. 20/20 - I wouldn’t vote for him again.

Cruz never did acknowledge that his campaign tactics in Iowa and his money-grabbing campaign were the beginning of his downward slide, did he?

Nope. Cruz and his crew always blamed someone else for their bad behavior. Some supporters of Cruz admitted what he did but justified by saying that Carson was going to drop out anyways, so it was ok.

Frankly I think he’ll continue to be the malignant narcissist he has been all along. Everyone is capable of change, though. Every now and then God gets through.

(Even with hopeless cases, such as yours truly.)

Somebody please remind me that I have something better to do when Cruz takes the stage. I think I’d rather have a colonscopy than listen to that smug jerk!

I’m not sure the Trump faction isn’t playing it up for what it’s worth. A little more drama to drive viewership.

At every turn the nevertrumpers have been squashed. To the point where you have to wonder whether it was planned. I mean there has been plenty of build-up, but no contest to speak of.

You can’t have drama without conflict or a bad guy.

Obama are alike. No matter what the situation or circumstance, it is always about themselves. They are both malignant narcissists.

Pure evil.

Correct

Trump's giving him an opportunity to either do the right thing or demonstrate to the world that he's not worth backing ever again.

Which route will Cruz take?
