Sen. Ted Cruz is stepping back into the national spotlight at the Republican National Convention, where his rival, Donald Trump, will be crowned the presidential nominee.

Cruz’s speech will be a pivotal moment for the Republican Party in 2016 — and possibly beyond.

Republicans will also be watching to see if Cruz has some nice things to say about Trump, who invited the Texan to a speaking role in a gesture of party unity.

This is actually more important for Cruz, than Trump. It will determine whether Cruz has a future. I hope Cruz realizes this and will endorse and support Trump and help him beat Hillary.

It’s great that Ted Cruz will be speaking. Cruz is a great conservative. It’s a given that he will support Trump to defeat Hillary. I think most of us are past the primaries.

Ehh. Conservatives have to line up and endorse another RINO for president. Happens every 4 years. I’ll skip the convention again, for the 3rd time. Tired of the RINO parade.

He'll praise and knock Trump in the same breath in a lawyerly way....Cruz is all about Cruz....Ask Marco...

By the way....heard Marco is doing well in Florida. Would like to see him give his delegates to Trump.

Wrong on both counts.

“Ehh. Conservatives have to line up and endorse another RINO for president.”

That’s a bit dim-witted.

That Trump is not a true-blue conservative does not make him a Rino.

I don’t trust Cruz even slightly here. I don’t know how Trump allows this without a healthy endorsement of Trump by Cruz already out there in the public. I know a lot of people here will say Trump knows what he’s doing, and maybe there have been solid enough private assurances to Trump, but the potential for a double-cross is strong. Cruz believes he is on a Messianic mission, and Trump got in his way.

Sure would love to see the schedule of who speaks when.

If Cruz has a good spot he’ll be saying wonderful things about Trump.
A bad spot means he’ll mumble some support.

The Texas Tribune reports that Cruz won’t be at the convention on Thursday night, which is when Trump speaks.

Looks more like a hankering for a GOP of yesteryear that doesn’t exist any more.

He needs to crank back the Douche-Baggery of the last few weeks of his run. I hope he can get his head on straight and not use the opportunity to bash Trump. We need Cruz’ support and brain, put to good use.

It's a given that he (Cruz) will support Trump...

That ship has sailed. Cruz signed a pledge; he should have honored it as soon as "nevertrump" rumblings began.

I believe that it’s important for Trump to show that he welcomes Cruz into the fold. If Cruz stabs him in the back, then it’s on Cruz..and Trump comes off looking like the champ that he is.

>>Ehh. Conservatives have to line up and endorse another RINO for president. <<

We know your kind.

Even Ronald Reagan could not pass your “conservative purity test.” No one can.

And anyone who doesn’t pass your little test is a RINO.

How do you live with everyone falling short?

Cruz will call Trump his friend and tell how he helped Trump win the nomination. It will be a dramatic self serving politician thing.

Then he will tell his delegates not to make a stink in voting for his Friend Trump and defeat the Queen of the incompetent Hillary Clintoon.

Then he will go away and hope Trump asks him to be A.G....I'll put that out there and see what happens.
I think He's pretty predictable.
