I have several friends in the Gendarmerie with whom I’ve spent pleasant days hunting. A dear friend of mine is a member of the Paris police force. I don’t intend to cite all my CLOSE friendships, but suffice it to say, you would be far outnumbered.

I free with your comments about France. We have friends in the east, Alsace region, a village near Mulhouse. They own rifles and handguns. They hunt a couple of times a year and shoot now and then.

There are a helluva lot of holes in your understanding of French history. I suggest you get farther than de Gaulle in your education. There has been only ONE time in our mutual history that France has not been beside us in time of war and that was in Iraq because Chirac had dealings (as did the UN) with Saddam. France was an outstanding contributor in the First Gulf War. They are the troops which made the great tank sweep which sealed Saddam’s fate. The French are beside us now.

You need to learn some mathematics too. You laugh at three years which is 36 months....how many? two, three , four or more? you spent the summers in Paris, so that amounts to .....less than 23 years during which you spent July and August?, or just the month of August?, or how many months in all have you spent in France? I have you pretty well covered just with my three years in Paris without counting the other 27 years I spent elsewhere in France.

I have friends in Alsace as well (Wissembourg). Was there last summer, then over to Lorraine (Metz), and up to Belgium Battle of the Bulge area and Bastogne, and Luxembourg to see Patton’s grave. Have visited most of the battlefields and memorials in France. I’m a Military History nut. Everyone should visit Normandy and a few other places I can mention.
I love the French people. They’ve been wonderful to me. Glad to have some backup here. I’m tired of them being maligned.
