5 Reasons the US Military Is in Trouble
Daily Signal ^ | July 12, 2016 | Justin Johnson

At a time when threats against America are growing, the U.S. military is facing a combat readiness crisis that jeopardizes its ability to protect the country. House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry, R-Texas, discussed this problem recently at The Heritage Foundation.

Thornberry explained that this readiness shortfall has occurred as a result of “budget cuts coupled with deployments, at a pace and a number that have not really declined very much.”

Thornberry outlined five alarming facts caused by the readiness crisis:

Obama is the evil genius of the nihilist left - a Marxist, racist, anti-Semitic, anti-Christian statist. Everything they love.

It is crystal clear to me this nation’s conventional military leaders have their heads up you know where plus this PC/MC BS has depleted the military of it’s best and brightest senior combat leaders. This country’s best advised and armed those same Afghans against the Russians years earlier. Yes, it was we/us who showed them how to blow the hell out of track and wheeled vehicles. The Russian army was defeated and decimated by using the very same tactics that our idiotic mech Infantry, armor plus every other American commander has by riding up and down MSR’s and every road in each damn country. These same stupid mistakes are what got the Russians blown to hell too. These vets missing legs and arms usually do not get such massive injuries from bullets or shrapnel. These injuries are blast injuries using enough explosives to blow the hell out of APC’s and even tanks. We trained them to watch the roads/MSR’s (main supply routes) and to then set up shaped charges to blow the hell out of the Soviets. This is what has happened to OUR men and their female comrades. Make no damn mistake it is/was these same stupid tactics and our idiotic rules of engagement (ROE’s) that got many American soldiers and marines killed and wounded. If one looks at Afghan after 9/11 one recalls an SF A team jumped into Afghan and linked up with the Northern alliance. Next another team jumped in and linked up with Karzai. The damn fighting did not last long. In the meantime Bush sends Marines in to a non conventional war. This is FACT. Now our military if full of those who could not meet the standards 20-30 years ago. This make time for lactation, queers, lesbians and you name it will never win. We must get back to what made our military great again. We can ill afford this PC/MC/AA military.

I agree with you. My concern is societal. One of the symptoms of the decline of Rome was an unwillingness of young men to serve in the military. I see that now in the United States. We have far too many ‘leaders’ who stayed home and watched young women their age deploy to combat.

True. This all volunteer is fine until a war. Then we “MUST” have a draft as a means of selection plus a draft allows us to be more selective medically. Recruiting goals are falling short despite some decent bonuses, and; we are again lowering standards to meet quotas. I am against lowering any standards like medical and intellect. I honestly worry seeing what has happened to this nation since even 1975. I recall Carter cutting the military just after I left, then it was women in West Point, and ; look where we are now. Sad. We have immigration coming from areas that have nothing in common with our founding fathers original countries, their ideas/religion, customs, morals, etc.

That’s a Clinton Administration type argument

Nonsense.

Your argument is a Charlie Rangel argument and just as full of love of the military.

You openly admit that you will NOT be taking everybody. So that means that people with money who do not want to serve will still be able to get out of it.

Those who are in the middle class might be able to get out and the poor will be forced in.

I see you want anti-war riots again and the military forced to take not the best and according to their needs but who ever the Washington bureaucrats decide they should have.

Congratulations! You have just destroyed what is left of the US military. We will no longer have a professional military but military made up of sullen forced labor.

My concern is societal.

Bull. Your concern is to force people who you don't like to do as you wish.

We have far too many ‘leaders’ who stayed home and watched young women their age deploy to combat.

Young women?

And still will. That will not change. You admitted that "They will not take everybody".

And more you will instill a John Kerry contempt in society because the only people in the military are those who were not smart enough to get out of serving.

I love the military and have relatives and friends serving and who have retired.

I am concerned about what the Obama administration is doing to the military.

Your ignorance is manifest. So if you have money you can avoid being drafted? Like Elvis. Define professional military. Is a professional military one full of unwed mothers who are pregnant & non-deployable? Let me assure you the military of the fifties & sixties, where most young men from VMI and Rice and the Citadel performed some type of military service was far more ready for war then what we have now.

We had a war in that we occupied a few third world nations. We didn’t have a war in the sense of Korea or Vietnam. I could not agree with you more regarding the lowering of standards, but that is a given with women in the service.

Takes more than just one person.

Hilter didn’t f*** Germany up all alone; he had hundreds of willing thugs and slugs that gladly aided and abetted his criminal conspiracy.

Just like our current douchebag.

The occupation and nation building is BS. SF trains in real guerilla warfare/UW, although sadly not as much as we did up through the late 60’s. The entire SF Officers Course in 67 was 75% UW. Being able to train locals, hire them, pay them and lead them into battle saves conventional troops lives. It also avoids a lot of trouble these damn woman in our military are causing in parts of the world. Now all the guys want is DA which any Ranger unit or even any infantry unit can do. The idea in war is to make the other guy die for his country. Bush jumps on Hussein who was the only one keeping Iran from crossing into Iraq. F up 1. Next, Obama and Clinton decide to get rid of Ghadaffi. F up 2. More and more BS as the country of Libya was full of radical Muslims like everywhere in that part of the world. Obama has gotten more killed and wounded with indecision. He has lost Iraq and we are in deep kimchi in Afghan.

I generally agree with you but having spent a little time over there my feeling is Iraq should be three countries. The Kurds want nothing to do with outsiders and the Sunni and Shiite tribes just will not coexist. By the way, another lesson in why diversity is not a strength.

A lot of guys say, “Meh, I won’t get rich, but at least I won’t have to put up with ALL THAT PC crap..!”

In my work center I'm watching an E6 with 17 years in the Navy get forced out over "creating a hostile work environment."

He yelled at people, used bad language, made people stay late to work on their qualifications and, most seriously, refused to accommodate the flexible work hours that the increasing number of single moms in our department require.

Several special snowflakes got together and and filed grievances against him. Our Commanding Officer, who does not wish to be on the cover of Navy Times, only wants to wash his hands of the matter.

This is the state of our military today.

Several 5th Group retired NCO’s told me a few years before the Iraq War started they had trained with the Kurds before Hussein came after the Kurds the last time with chemicals etc. Your diversity sounds OK, but; the Shiites damn sure did not mess with Saddam Hussein. He ran that country just like Muammar Gadaffi did Libya. Those two dictators worked much better then we have now. My opinion.
