NO THE COURT DID NOT UNBIND THE DELEGATES! THE DELEGATES ARE BOUND BY PARTY RULES!

Where is it for the court to tell the state and the party how to run their primaries? More and more I think we see the judiciary running the country. We need a balance-maybe new judges that respect their role vis-a-vis the constitution, the executive, and the legislative branches.

Though the complaint is long, this lawsuit essentially amounts to those two questions. The rest of it is just a series of distractions. State law simply is not the guiding force over delegate selection and allocation in Virginia, though there is the potential for prosecution on the grounds of violating the binding established in that law. Decided narrowly, a federal court could deem the state penalty unconstitutional. But the Republican Party of Virginia has measures in place to bind the delegates without that. That is an in-house, intra-party battle the courts have generally been unwilling to weigh in on, leaving it up to the party to settle. And the matter will be settled at the convention in Cleveland, starting with the Convention Committee on Rules.

OK since the judge has invalidated the primary election he should have to compensate the state the costs of the election.

Are the gop VA delegates bound by the state rules or by the VA state GOP?

RNC is a private club. there is no first amendment. They use courts and steal voting machines to make their selection process look legitimate. also, since the rules won’t be enforced as outlined in the statute then there are no rules.

According to what I’m reading on twitter, the VA case upholds the right of political parties to set rules for national convention delegate selection and allocation. It affirms 1st Amendment rights to require delegates be bound to primary results and makes clear delegates are bound under national party rules. RNC rules bind the delegates. That did not change.

If this spirals out of control, there will be a revolt of historical proportions.

I don’t if the Trump team has a backup plan, but it might be a good idea to prepare for a convention fight.

Appeal, amnd revoke Correll’s credentials.

the convention is next week and this will not be litigated in time.

If Trump wins with more delegates, even excluding VA’s. then the decision is moot.

I read the decision, and it all BS.

Shame on the Federal Court for even taking this case.

This is NOT a First Amendment case.

Delegates are not in free association or members of conscience—they are appointed to serve a specific purpose.

Besides they are released by the rules on the second ballot anyway.

The decision is tortured legal reasoning that has no business being taken seriously.

Trump will still win.

Unbound doesn’t mean 100% of one state has to vote for Cruz.

My $$ says this all goes absolutely nowhere. If anyone but Trump walks out of that Convention with the nomination, the Republican party as we know it is history. And the vast majority of the delegates realize that.
