House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) has made clear he doesn't agree with a proposal put forward by Donald Trump -- whom Ryan has endorsed -- to ban Muslim immigration into the United States, but in an interview with the Huffington Post Thursday, Ryan floated taking a President Trump to court if he tried to implement such a ban or some of his other controversial proposals unilaterally.
I would sue any president that exceeds his or her powers, Ryan said in a back-and-forth about Trump's claims that he could implement a Muslim ban or build a Mexican border wall without congressional approval.
Ryan said he wasn't sure of the "legal question" of whether Trump could institute a Muslim ban on his own as president.
Thats a legal question that theres a good debate about, he said, citing the 1952 Immigration and Nationality Act.
"On the broader question, are we going to exert our Article I powers and reclaim this Article I power no matter who the president is? Absolutely," Ryan said. He also said he discussed the limits of the executive power with Trump.
In the interview, Ryan said his endorsement of real estate mogul did not give Trump a blank check, and that he was still trying to achieve "real unity" between the presumptive nominee and his caucus.

Trump is the target of Paul Ryan because Paul Ryan doesn’t want to stop immigration, illegal or otherwise.
Proof positive — like we didn’t already know it — that the republican party has not been on our side for years, it has lied to us for years, and these people really do consider themselves our over-lords.
He can answer just as posters on this thread say. First point out that Ryan is protesting a strawman, and then point out that the law (and the constitution) vest some immigration power in the president.
As for loyalty, that's a two way street. Plenty of GOP members oppose Trump. Romney for one, and if Ryan is loyal to Romney, that's just the way it is. The party has failed the country.

No problem here as long as he is consistent. But why sue? Impeach. Which brings me to the obvious question -- why isn't he calling for Obama's impeachment? I think we all know the answer.

He now admits, in effect, that Trump may be able to do, what he says he will do, legally. But he still wrings his hands verbally, for the precise effect that I have described.
Look, there is one effective way to counter this nonsense. It is by far the most effective way, and that is to challenge Paul Ryan as to whether or not he is willing to comply with the obvious intent of the Founders in the Constitution, and that is that all Federal Office Holders put the interests of America and the Americans first? All of Ryan's babbling over Trump's comments dealing with immigration or ethnicity, imply that he is not willing to put Americans first.
One does not have to be anti-Mexican or anti-Moslem--not in the slightest--to still stand with Trump in putting American interests ahead of any foreign interest. It is impossible to not see that, if you read the Constitution in context, including the Preamble:
We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
That is quite rich, eh? 0bama regularly exceeds his CIC powers without a peep from Ryan, but Trump's mere campaign proposal (which DOESN'T exceed Presidential powers) is treated by Ryan and his GOPe comrades like a criminal act.
I hope President Trump fumigates the GOPe with extreme prejudice.

Ryan’s sorry ass will be primaried out in November. He’s running against a real conservative who believes in the stopping the takeover of America by Muslims. Ryan then needs to switch to the Democrat Party. He has much more in common with democrats that he does republicans.
