NY Daily News Reporter Complains Shooting an AR-15 Bruised His Delicate Shoulder (LOL Alert)
Legal Insurrection ^ | June 14, 2016 | Kemberlee Kaye

"It feels like a bazooka - and sounds like a cannon."

How do we know AR-15s are the single most lethal weapon on the planet? Because they're SO LOUD. LOUD, YOU HEAR ME?! LOUD!!!!

This is one of those things that must be read to be believed, and no, this was not found in The Onion, amazingly.

New York Daily News reporter Gersh Kuntzman set out to test shoot an AR-15. “It feels like a bazooka — and sounds like a cannon,” he writes.

A cannon. And Bazooka? The same bazooka also known as a "recoilless rifle"?

I would like to invite @GershKuntzman to an Aggie football game where we have an actual cannon.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess this dude has never shot a 12 gauge before.

But it just gets worse from there.

Many gun shops turned down our request to fire and discuss the AR-15, a style of tactical machine gun popular with mass killers such as San Bernardino terrorist Syed Farook and Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen.

Except for the fact that there WAS NO AR-15 USED IN THE ORLANDO TERRORIST ATTACK.

Kuntzman finally found a taker to let him play with this bazooka-like cannon weapon of mass destruction and then assumed that the gun shop owner, Frank Stelmach, was not like the average gun owner. Why? Because Stelmach doesn't like murder.

But Frank Stelmach of Double Tap Shooting Range and Gun Shop invited me, videographer Michael Sheridan and reporter Adam Shrier to come down. Stelmach is not like many gun lovers. He admires his weaponry, yes, and has difficulty explaining why law-abiding citizens need a gun that can empty a 40-round clip in less than five seconds. But he also hates the idea that "bad people" get a hold of a gun like this and use it to kill without difficulty.

Then we get to the really fun part; the part where Kuntzman describes his brush with barrel shrouded death, which he claims bruised his shoulder and gave him PTSD.

Not in my hands. I've shot pistols before, but never something like an AR-15. Squeeze lightly on the trigger and the resulting explosion of firepower is humbling and deafening (even with ear protection).

The recoil bruised my shoulder. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions - loud like a bomb - gave me a temporary case of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.

If a .223 rifle bruises your shoulder, you should eat more bananas.

For Christ's sakes, I learned to shoot a Ruger 10/22 when I was 8. Then moved up to a .410 shotgun and a .223 when I was a 10-YEAR-OLD-GIRL.

Kuntzman also claims the gun had a fully automatic mode, which any moderately educated citizen knows is not something anyone can walk into their local armory and buy off the shelf. Even our fine Lone Star State legislators questioned this claim:

Lolol: Firing an AR-15 is horrifying, dangerous and very very loud http://nydn.us/1U6V2uW

@KemberleeKaye @85thLegislature - The author also claims he also got the AR15 to fire in "fully automatic mode." Wonder how he did that.

The anti-scary-looking-gun-derangement-syndrome knows no bounds, apparently.

“For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.”

It was his time of the month.

Clearly we need to set up a “go fund me” page to buy New York Daily News reporter Gersh Kuntzman a lifetime supply of Depends.

I’d be willing to bet that he (?) pisses his pants whenever a car blows its horn, an air conditioner cycles on, or a telephone rings.

Geez-O-Pete! It’s a frick’n .22!

I’d love to see this snowflake shoot anything in the .30+ range. I used to have (tragic boating accident) an over/under Browning 12GA that kicked real well as well.

Mules got nothing on Browning, Remington, Winchester and the like.

Back in the day I used to work with a guy that had a .44. He had some guy making hot reloads for him.

I like my 6” .357mag for occasional range time, and that .44mag’s a real handful. I daily carry a 5” 1911 .45cal ACP. Good enough for what I need.

I put 100 through my M1A on Sunday after I put 200 through my AR. I’d love to hand this idiot a 45-70 amid watch the reaction, or a Mosin.

SaveFerris said: "Now once on that was enough for me."

I was given some ammo by a friend leaving the state which included some 3 1/2 inch magnum 12 guage shells. I will never fire another one in my life.

It was super unpleasant. Very loud and a very hard kick. I was not entertained in the least.

Just heard Marc Levin sarcastically suggest that AR-15's be painted pink, to appease some tender sensibilities. Something like this?

When he’s done with your M44 he can try my M98 mauser in .45-70.He’ll really like the 500 grain loads.

I've got one of those Navy Arms .45-70 Mausers.I can stand some recoil, but that thing is at my upper limit. It is a one shot boar killer and that's it's only redeeming quality.

I would have been better off getting a complete conversion but tried to get by on the cheap. I knew it would probably require some action work. Before doing it tho I wanted to make sure that it wouldn’t feed the 45-70 as is.

I already had a Siamese Mauser I had bought several years earlier for almost nothing. I had a good barrel put on the action by E.R. Shaw. The barreled action fit the original stock but as I mentioned, it kicked like a mule mostly because of the stock design.

It would only feed the top round reliably. I had decided to go ahead and have a gunsmith do the work but ended up selling it at a gun show.

The actions were made in Japan and everyone says they were extremely strong. Probably could stand really powerful loads.

I'm comfortable with any of my big bore revolvers. The T/C Encore pistol shooting a 175 gr .308 and the T/C Contender shooting a 170 gr 30-30 are pretty darn painful.
