TWA 800: What the CIA Did to Mike Wire, Witness 571
American Thinker ^ | June 9, 2016 | Mike Wire

Posted on 06/09/2016 11:39:58 AM PDT by Kaslin

TWA 800 was destroyed twenty years ago this July off the coast of Long Island. Mike Wire was one of the 258 FBI witnesses who reported an apparent missile strike. The New York Times, which owned the story, interviewed not a single one of them. In the absence of real information, the CIA and FBI collaborated to discredit the eyewitnesses and advance an exploding fuel tank theory. Wire’s case is just one shocking example out of many. To learn more, see Jack Cashill’s introductory article in this series or his book, TWA 800: The Crash, The Cover-Up, The Conspiracy (Regnery: July 5).

Recently the CIA released documents pertaining to the tragic destruction of TWA 800. During review of those documents, I have learned that the CIA had designated me as Witness #1 to the heartbreaking events of that day. For the FBI, I was only Witness #571. How the CIA came to decide upon me is at the heart of this miscarriage of justice.

On July 17, 1996, I was working to get the new Beach Lane Bridge in Westhampton ready to open. The bridge crosses the narrow inland waterway and connects the mainland with a small strip of beach beyond.

As a millwright tradesman, I had been working all day in the mechanical room of the bridge. A little before 8:30 p.m. that night, I surfaced to get some air. I was talking to one of the many men working with me when I saw what looked like a cheap firework rising from beyond the houses along the beach. This wasn’t out of the ordinary for a summer weekday so close to the 4th of July.

I don’t think everyone on a ship with dozens to hundreds of crew would keep quiet, for twenty years.

A little boat with six? Sure.

Terrorists? Why would they? that’s the problem with it being a terrorist attack. Unless the purpose was to win concessions in a secret negotiation between them and the gov’t.

What about a bomb? Traces of explosives were found, and it sure wouldn't take much explosive to do the same job that a "magic spark" is supposed to have done, if it could somehow be properly positioned.

It sure seems like all the missile theories are implausible, despite eyewitness accounts...

I don't give a sh*t what the Government says. I saw witness after witness after witness interviewed on CNN that evening, all of them said they saw a streak of light go from the ocean surface up to the belly of that 747.

It was a missile. No doubt about it in my mind.

Only question is "from who?"

I vaguely remember seeing a low-light video apparently being taken in the cockpit of an aircraft that night. Only saw it once and can’t honestly say what the audio said.

Would a bomb on the plane itself account for that?

If so, then perhaps TWA 800 is distraction from what was going on... what were the political and financials of the government like then? Were there any scandals about to break?

One thing I seem to recall is $2.3 Trillions were missing from the federal budget [Pentagon] just prior to 11-Sep-01; the financial records were stored in one of the WTC buildings. — While I’m not convinced that the “government did it” guys are right about 11-Sep, I certainly don’t trust that the Government wouldn’t use the incident as a smokescreen to do shady deads — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU4GdHLUHwU

Benghazi... “They denied it was terrorism to help Clinton Obama get re-elected.”

Anyone else see a pattern here?

Multiple shoe bombers during the time that AA587 was blown out of the skies of NYC in 11/12/2001

September 21, 2001: Arrest of Shoe Bombing Facilitator Revealed in Press; Plot Not Canceled
Edit event

The arrest of al-Qaeda operative Nizar Trabelsi is revealed in the international press by this date, if not earlier. An article published by UPI on this day names Trabelsi as having been arrested (see September 13, 2001) in connection with the capture of one of his associates, Djamel Beghal, in Dubai (see July 24 or 28, 2001). [United Press International, 9/21/2001] Trabelsi is linked to two shoe bombing plotters, Richard C. Reid and Saajit Badat. [O’Neill and McGrory, 2006, pp. 231] The arrest is also mentioned in subsequent days on CNN and in the Washington Post, for example. [Washington Post, 9/28/2001; CNN, 9/29/2001] Al-Qaeda may well already be aware that Trabelsi has been arrested, as he must have been out of contact for over a week at this point. However, the shoe bombing plot is not canceled and goes ahead, despite the bombers’ link to Trabelsi. One of the bombers backs out later for an unrelated reason (see (December 14, 2001)) and the other is thwarted when he attempts to blow up an aircraft in December (see December 22, 2001).

September 26, 2001: Six Algerians Linked to Several Terror Plots Arrested in Spain
Edit event

Six radical Algerians are arrested in Spain based on evidence uncovered in a Belgian investigation. The men are Mohamed Boualem Khnouni, who is identified as the cell leader, Hakim Zezour, Hocine Khouni, Yasin Seddiki, Madjid Sahouane, and Mohamed Belaziz. The Belgian investigation included the arrest of al-Qaeda operative Nizar Trabelsi (see September 13, 2001), said to be involved in several terrorist plots. Spanish Interior Minister Mariano Rajoy says that Trabelsi’s detention is “directly related” to the arrest of the six Algerians, said to be members of Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC). The six have been under police surveillance for some time. The Spanish say that the cell sent optical, communications, computer, and electronic equipment to GSPC members in Algeria as well as making shipments to Chechnya. It also forged official documents and credit cards. In addition, the police seize false papers from several countries, as well as computer equipment used to forge airline tickets between Spain, France, and Algeria. November 20, 2001: Shoe Bombers Travel to Afghanistan to Meet Al-Qaeda Bomb Maker
Edit event

Two radical Muslims involved in a shoe bombing plot, Richard Reid and Saajit Badat, travel to Pakistan and Afghanistan to meet an al-Qaeda bomb maker named Midhat Mursi (a.k.a. Abu Khabab al-Masri). Mursi has been working on a plan to get enough plastic explosive to puncture a plane’s fuselage into a shoe and thinks he has finally succeeded. It is unclear where the explosives the two men later obtain for the plot come from. At his trial, Reid will claim that he obtains the explosives from a neo-Nazi group and then rigs a bomb he tries to detonate on an airliner himself. However, the prosecution will point out that a hair and a palm print found on the mechanism are not his. If the two men do obtain the explosives directly from Mursi, it is unclear how they manage to transport them back to Britain, to which they return on December 5. [O’Neill and McGrory, 2006, pp. 230-231] The war is raging in Afghanistan at this time (see November 26, 2001), but this does not seem to hinder them.

(December 14, 2001): Would-Be Shoe Bomber Backs out of Plot
Edit event

Saajid Badat.Saajid Badat. [Source: BBC]Saajid Badat, a radical Muslim recruited to perform a shoe bombing on a transatlantic flight (see November 20, 2001), backs out of the plot. Although he already has a ticket to travel from Manchester to Amsterdam and then to the US for December 21, he sends his handler in Pakistan a short coded message saying he cannot go through with the attack. He hides the detonator and the explosive at his home, but, after his partner Richard Reid is arrested (see December 22, 2001), police will uncover Belgian telephone cards he had used to keep in touch with a local contact they had shared in Brussels, Nizar Trabelsi. The police will arrest Badat in November 2003 and in April 2005 he will be sentenced to 13 years in jail. The length of the sentence will reflect the co-operation he provides to police. Here’s a couple of good podcasts of The Hour of the Time where William Cooper discusses TWA 800.

why did he wait so long to come forward? There could be a good explanation but I was left with that unanswered question.

I think he gave the answer to that in the first two sentences of the article...

Recently the CIA released documents pertaining to the tragic destruction of TWA 800. During review of those documents, I have learned that the CIA had designated me as Witness #1 to the heartbreaking events of that day.

The CIA documents were only released recently so his response to them is of necessity recent.

Its been 20 years. Impossible to believe everyone on a ship would keep quiet for that long. Most are probably long out of the military and pretty much untouchable.

Gd bless this man.

We live in a virulently corrupt government run country.

Here we all are, poignantly saluting and honoring our flag. The USA means so much to most of us. Yet to our rulers, it’s just one of the cords used to bind us in their servitude.

Good post LS. I always wondered that If the Gov. wanted to claim no missile, no terrorism etc. just a mech. failure....why would they order the salvage and reconstruction of damn near the entire plane on land and open up another huge can of worms if THERE was evidence of a missile strike then found. No way they could have kept all of those workers quiet once the word went around the reconstruction site that workers had found terrorism evidence.

Those are good points FRiend, however I’m reminded of that saying “the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence”, there had to be a most powerful reason for the CIA and FBI to go to such lengths to ignore, discredit and persecute ANY witnesses who dared to defy the “official” explanation.

When viewed in light of the lawless nature of the Clintonista regime at the time, one can only conclude that there was a fire beneath all of that smoke.

I saw the documentary. The NTSB reported that parts at the recreation site were being moved and re-tagged at night by the FBI.

no shoulder fired missile that had the range to reach the airliner

I have heard the argument many times that no missile could have reached it. I balance that against the dozens of people who saw a missile, and the very odd refusal of investigators to talk to those people. I remember reading of people who went themselves to talk to investigators and noticing that the investigators were refusing to take notes of the interview.

I also remember clearly that the guy heading up the investigation announced what the findings would be before beginning the process, and I also remember the extremes they went to, to make sure that investigators could not talk to each other, only to their superiors. It all smelled to high heaven, it was not a normal investigation.

I also remember that this was the Clinton era, when the phrase "the investigation *is* the cover-up" fit the events again and again.

Remember James Kallstrom, the FBI’s lead investigator?

Worked for the FBI for 35 years.

The day after the crash, he said a missile was involved, then he changed his story.

Went with the center fuel tank fantasy from then on.

Retired, and got a new gig—as an investment banker.

Who knew this gumshoe was a financial whiz at heart?

He is still around on Fox News sometimes as an “analyst”.

Not just andersson Cooper. Also stepinlotsofit. Steffy was talking, after the situation room with killing bin laden, on the air about other times when he was part of the Clinton administration when they used that room, and he included “the shooting down of TWA 800”.
