Neoconservative political operative Bill Kristol announced Sunday that an independent candidate will enter the presidential race to challenge both Donald Trump and the Democratic Party nominee.
Kristol, the editor of The Weekly Standard, has been trying for months to find a third-party challenger since his preferred candidates lost in the Republican primaries to Trump. Now, just weeks after meeting with Mitt Romney to talk about a third-party run, Kristol hinted Sunday that his plot is coming to fruition.

Given that Trump has repeatedly expressed his disdain for the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld Iraq policies I don’t think you should expect to see Cheney or Rumsfeld involved with a Trump administration.
I have to say that I strongly supported the Bush admin. Iraq intervention at the time, but I never imagined or expected that the aftermath could be handled so badly. I dislike the way that Trump describes the issues wrt Iraq, but I’ve come to agree with him that we never should have gone into that ####hole in 2003. Hindsight is too easy, of course.

The timeline falls basically in June, July, August 2016 for an independent candidate to
submit the required signatures to get on the general election ballot. Some may do it in
a state or two just for self gratification but serious attempts will be limited, imo.

I agree 150%. Irony is, 10-15 years ago, I subscribed to the Weekly Standard & National Review. At the time, it seemed to me that they put forth completely reasonable Conservative positions. I had no idea whatsoever what traitors they were. I’m truly amazed how I (we?) can be fooled by these hucksters. Also makes me wonder if I am being similarly fooled today, and by whom.......
Names that go down in history which will it be Mitt Romney or Mitt Benedict Arnold Romney? Where has honor gone? I feel so much shame for the those who refuse to stay the course which should be Never Hillary Never a Democrat. True allegiances seem to be emerging, shameful.
