Amid speculation he is on the short list, Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions told The Daily Caller on Friday that he would consider an offer to be Donald Trumps running mate, like any other citizen should, if offered.
Its the farthest Sessions has gone in publicly acknowledging interest in serving in a potential Trump administration.
During an half-hour interview in his Capitol Hill office about a wide-range of topics including immigration, trade, national security and the 2016 campaign The DC asked Sessions if he is open to being Trumps running mate.
If I could help him in some way and he were to ask me I would consider it like any other citizen should, said Sessions, who was the first senator to endorse Trumps presidential campaign and serves as an adviser to the presumptive Republican nominee.

Frankly, I would prefer no one from the senate.
That is the most traitorous, conniving, useless gathering of pure trash in the entire universe.
None of them are worth spit.
Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III...I like the sound of that along with Donald John Trump...
Go TRUMP/SESSIONS!
freegards

I agree with you, though Sessions is probably one of the few legit members.
This Trump skeptic would like to see Sessions on the ticket.
I would like it.
Sessions is too valuable in the Senate.
We only have 5-6 Senators who are on the side of the citizens.
Jim DeMint
Duncan D. Hunter
I would like it.
“Sessions is too valuable in the Senate.”
Agreed
Jeff Sessions, American patriot.
I think Trump should go on TV and demand Nikki Halley to accept his offer for VP. Not that I am much of a Nikki fan, but I think she should be VP. She’s the best balanced ideological and strategic pick. She just needs to get over herself.
Trump has many great picks, most of them Ideological balancing picks, but Nikki Haley brings the strategic pick along with her.
Newt is out. Once he started going off message about Trump on the news network I removed him from the bottom of my VP list and I’m pretty sure Trump did too.
He voted for the Corker Bill.
I am not sure why anyone who signed their name to that should be considered for anything other than retirement.
When is the last time the senate did anything to help anyone other than themselves?
Ah, that’s a fair point. Damn.
Who do you think would be a good VP choice? I’m running out of ideas on this.
It’s interesting you like Sessions so much, yet you didn’t think much of his very early endorsement of Trump.
That's what the Dems are looking at now. I think they consider Hillary a goner against Trump.
Jeff Sessions probably brings the balance of (dare I say it?) “gravitas” to the Trump persona, and is a highly knowledgeable scholar of the ins and outs of maneuvering through the halls of Congress in matters of defense and foreign relations.
The Donald can certainly put the assistance to good use.
Trump! No Haley!!!!!!!
