Rush’s contributions to conservatism cannot be underestimated. He was all we had during the early Clinton years. He does treat his callers with respect, even those with which he disagrees.

Reading through yesterday’s Levin thread made me stop and realize that Rush is - for all our snarking - a very decent man who would never stoop so low as to call a veteran a commie. He’s even stopped talking about Cruz because he knows the world has moved on.

I can’t hear him today because of the Mets game. I may go on Tune In to listen.

Absolutely. He’s a class act. I understand that people are upset with him and have moved on - that’s their right as well. I’m going to stay even if I vehemently disagree with some of his points of view on Trump.

You mean over Sprite? I’ve owned many rescue dogs - one is on my feet as I type - but I’ve never overreacted like that in my life. As soon as one departs, I’m on line looking for another angel-dog, as I call them. The only way to deal with that kind of grief is to go out and find another pet that needs a decent home.

I enjoyed that book of his, btw.

Yes, good points, and I totally agree.

I'm lucky that I have two local radio stations to choose from in case one of them goes to Boston Red Sox games. I'm busy and distracted, so I haven't heard everything, but Rush has mostly been talking about Hillary and the email scandal.

I agree 100% with your thoughts. Rush was smart enough not to go "whole hog" on Cruz, but the attentive listener could surmise where his loyalties were. His segue to Trump will be a whole lot easier since he never really got unhinged. I think that he will get his audience back as he does this.

The problem that I see with Rush is that he seems to have lost his touch. Maybe he's "phoning it in" now that he has gotten older. Some of his Clinton era shows were unbelievably funny. Now he seems to just go through the motions.

Yep, his friends said he was really bad, couldn’t barely get out of bed. That’s not normal.

I must say I loved your replies to Mark! You were very funny and cool. Very impressive.

Yes, Rush used to be hilarious. I don’t know why he’s dropped all the parodies over the years. I still laugh when I think of his parody of James Carville trick or treating many years ago...

My favorite was the Tony Snow Threads. He WAS a class act and I’d give anything to hear his take on this crazy election cycle!

“I witnessed yesterday’s activity on the Levin thread. I wonder if his ratings are beginning to decline, and that might be the reason he was so fractious?”

That is a kind way to put it. I’d love reading that going on in the leftist’s camp.

I suppose that halfway, it is.

“I hope he doesn’t behave like that in the workplace or at home - I always though it was an act.”

I think it is an act. The savage chihuahua on the other side of a window act.

Maybe Mr. Foster did shoot himself more than once somewhere else and managed to make it to Fort Marcy Park . . . .

Henry Marshall was a USDA investigator who was closing in on Billy Sol Estes a friend of people in very high places.

It must have really borken his heart to learn that the President of the U.S. (LBJ) was very possibly engaged in criminal activities.

Mr. Marshall must have really, really wanted to commit suicide.

He finally succeeded by knocking himself unconscious, managing somehow to breath through a hose attached to the tailpipe of his pickup truck, and -- all else failing -- shot himself several times with a bolt-action rifle.

(Years later in the 1980s with new information our rulers said, well maybe it wasn't suicide. When the ruling class is involved it will take years to get the truth.)

“I think it is an act. The savage chihuahua on the other side of a window act.”

Really?

Mark showed up here yesterday after a two year absence, and launched into a bunch of disruptor troll behavior that was nearly indistinguishable from the average drive by DUmmie.

Some act.

My point is, he wouldn’t do that face to face. He wouldn’t dare.

The vitriol was certainly real, but it was launched from a ‘safe place’.

The chihuahua behind the window.

He’s a true radio professional.

Nearly half a century that started with him schlepping oldies on the late shift in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Gotta give him credit for that.

Agreed. Petulance rather than persuasion.

That’s how it starts, generally. My first job, a menial one basically, was at WOR Radio in NYC. Bob & Ray, Jean Shepard, Rambling with Gambling. I picked up a little radio history and knew that all of them started out in small markets and most of them were radio junkies as kids.
