Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry predicted during a private phone call Wednesday that presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump could carry more than 35 states in the November election.

“The more I spend time with him, the more I talk with him, the more I see how he has analyzed this country properly at this point in time, I feel very comfortable that we’re going to win,” Perry told donors during a conference call hosted by the pro-Trump Great America PAC.

“I think we have the potential to win overwhelmingly,” he added. “I’m talking a 35, 36, 37-state victory. Just a powerful win in November.

Rick Perry Predicts Trump Will Win 37 States in Landslide

That's the second-worst possible portent of doom, slightly behind "Dick Morris Predicts Trump Will Win 37 States in Landslide".

The Buffalo News, Collins said he believed two of Trump's signature campaign proposals would never be carried out.

"Believed" being the key word here.

I hope so, but this optimism is all predicated on the Dems nominating Hillary or Bernie . I am pretty sure they know they will lose if they do that, which is why I think we are in for a last minute switcheroo.

I think Trump can beat Biden too but I’m not as sure...

All choices are good; however, Newt will never be his Chief of Staff. That is more an administrative position and is almost always someone younger than 70+. They work 18 hour days and the pressure must be enormous. Most do the job 2 or 4 years and then are gone.

Newt is a thinker, an innovator and a visionary. He is better suited as an advisor.

This trash from Talking Points Memo -- a far, far left political propaganda site -- was unceremoniously pulled earlier today, when posted by another TDS sufferer.

Maybe you could try posting one of the sleezier diaries from Dzily Kos, next time out.

What’s the matter with these people?

They weren't merely lobbying in support of a presidential candidate; they had (the huffier and more stridently fanatical ones, I mean) pledged undying fealty to someone marketing himself to them as, essential, a new messiah made flesh.

And they wonder why we sometimes refer to them as Cruzlims. ;)

Chief of Staff is the President’s Personal Secretary. It’s not what you say. Newt would be perfect for it.

Rick Perry, the latest new FR hero.

That's the new, obeisant Rick "I've got my mind right, Trump Boss" Perry, obviously.

Not the Rick Perry who warned July 22, 2015 about the GOP's mortal peril from the "cancer of Trumpism."

Jonah Goldberg got it right a few months ago: "..you cannot have a party that's both Reaganite and Trumpish...Get over it and pick a side."

Michael Reagan also knows that: "Mr. Trump, I knew Ronald Reagan. And you’re no Ronald Reagan!"

Sic transit GOP.

I hope that when Trump is “filling positions” he considers Sheriff David Clarke for something big. He has the same no-BS attitude that Trump has and would be a great addition to the team.

Good Lord. The chief of staff is NOT the president's personal secretary. Those are two separate positions. The chief of staff is the main conduit to the presidency. To see the president, the person must almost always get permission from the chief of staff first. He controls who sees the president and has power in many other areas and obviously has influence with the president since the president chose him for the job and is a trusted adviser.

The president's personal secretary types memos and answers the phone; calls people and tells them to hold the line and that the president will be on the phone shortly. The two most well known private or personal secretaries to presidents were probably Rose Mary Woods to Nixon and Betty Currie or something like that to Clinton. Rose Mary Woods is the one who stepped on the pedal and erased 18, 19 or whatever minutes on one of Nixon's tapes and Betty Currie was somehow involved in I think the Lewinsky scandal in some way. Both made the front pages of the newspapers, but they were the personal secretaries and definitely not chiefs of staff.

Since you think private and personal secretaries are the same as the chief of staff, you disqualify yourself from further discussion of this topic.

Newt will definitely not be chief of staff. First, he would never subject himself to that type of work at his age. It is tough and demanding and suitable to someone much younger. Newt is a thinker, not a desk jockey the way the chief of staff is. I mean really - go educate yourself.
