Trump hints that Fallin and Brewer on VP short list
The Hill ^ | May 11, 2016 | Harper Neidig

Posted on 05/12/2016 5:56:35 AM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Donald Trump said on Wednesday that former Ariz. Gov. Jan Brewer and Okla. Gov. Mary Fallin are both on his shortlist for running mate.

“Well also Jan. Jan Brewer has been fantastic,” he said. “She has been so fantastic. You know I won so big, her territory, we won so big. And she is a fabulous woman. And I agree with you, the governor of Oklahoma -- fabulous person.”

When asked whether Chris Christie is still in the running as a possible vice president pick, Trump declined to give a straight answer, opting to praise the New Jersey governor.

“I don’t want to say 'in there,' but he’s helping me and he was an early endorsement and a very enthusiastic one and he’s a friend of mine and a very good guy and a talented guy and he’s helping us a lot," Trump said.

He said there were between five and seven people under consideration to be his VP and that he will make the announcement at the convention this summer.

Low standing among females? Stop buying the media BS.

Trump won a majority of the female vote here in PA and other states.

Gingrich would be a disaster. He left his cancer-stricken wife (WHO SURVIVED) with divorce papers. This choice would give women rationale to pick Rotten. His idea to colonize Mars is beyond goofy as well.

I’m a fan of Marsha, Marsha, Marsha, too.

Conservative, intelligent and understands how legislation moves thru Congress - the latter is a major requirement of Trump.

Fallin served two terms in Congress and has been a successful governor. She might be the most conservative governor in the country—at least on illegal immigration.

"Still think it will be Rand Paul."

Brilliant minds think alike WisePrince...;-)

Follow me here...

* Trump needs to get things through the House and Senate.
* With Newt as Chief of Staff, he can work through the House with him.
* And with Paul as Presiding over the Senate he has got a contact with the Senate to maneuver through that mind field.
* More So...
* IMHO Mitch McConnell owes Rand.....
* Say what you will about Matt Bevin as a Senate Candidate, he is Gov. now, and is not to be taken lightly IMHO. Without Rand standing by him, it might have been Senator Bevin.

Two other things....

* Rand bowed out early with grace.
* And he was the only one to talk about cutting government and the debt, something that Trump around the edges has noted.

Sounds like a win / win to me...

I didn’t mind Brewer as our governor, but I think she would suck in a debate situation.

Going with a woman would be a transparent attempt to address his low standing among females.

I disagree. There's nothing wrong with some women being on Trump's VP short list.

And Trump's "low standing among females" is mostly hype, in any event. It's certainly exaggerated, as is his "issue" with Hispanics. Indeed, Trump is already beating Hillary in the Hispanic demographic.

Governors are logical candidates for VP. There are many GOP governors, and several of them are female.

Thus, I think it's an oversimplification to say that choosing a woman as VP on the ticket would automatically be a "transparent attempt" to address Trump's low standing among females. His standing just isn't as low as the Media is making it out to be.

Every VP candidate would bring different advantages and disadvantages to the table. Let's leave it at that without trying to pigeonhole everything into some kind of cut-and-dried gender issue.

Vote Trump

Remember when Trump was asked about his sister as SCOTUS?

Gave the same type of answer.

Every idiot then spouted that he said he would pick his sister for SCOTUS.

Too many brain dead people in the world.

“The only issue is the lack of foreign policy.”

Gee do you think Hillary has time to acquire some GOOD foreign policy experience? Every time I hear about Hillary’s foreign policy I think Benghazi and foreign money to the Clinton Foundation. I have better foreign policy experience than Hillary and I have NONE..........

Yes

Duncan Hunter has good chops to me. Border state congress critter with great military experience who could help turn California purple/red.....dare I ever say RED again?

There are worse choices being mentioned, but very few better!

“How about Allen West?”

Add him to the same list as Duncan Hunter.

I think there are more than a few blacks ready to bolt the Democrat plantation, especially after Obama and the prospect of a phony Hillary Clinton.......

How many? I think 20% would be possible.....
