PEARLAND (KTRK) -- The owner of a Pearland business is under fire after a photo showing him butchering a hog in the alley behind his restaurant surfaced on social media.

Jimmy Chi, the owner of Tose Steak and Sushi, says the wild hog was given to him by a friend.

"It was a wild hog my friend gave me. They went on a hunting trip that I promised them I was going to go on and I didn't. So they shot a couple hogs and gave me one," Chi said.

A customer took the photo and posted it to his personal Facebook page. The picture has been shared more than 4,500 times.

It’s funny. In a country like ours where you can find a culinary audience for just about any meat you can think of, no one talks about dining on emus.

Feral hogs, wild rabbits, squirrels, turkeys and deer. Turtles, alligators, sharks, octopus, and squid. Even the outlying bear, big horn sheep, or genuine buffalo. Even the dangerous Puffer Fish is a delicacy for sushi snobs. No one seems to want emu, though!

I know it’s been tried to raise emus in the United States for their meat, eggs, and leather. But I understand the attempts have failed. I wonder why they never found their audience in the US?

My neighbor is also an Army vet and his wife is Korean. She makes her own kim chee in pots on the back porch and shares.

Deee-lish! I love me some kim chee...

She also makes the best pork egg rolls on the planet.

I’ve gotta say an Ostrich steak is a fine meal. Emus are like ostriches, right?

Red meat, tender juicy and lean, but fowl, and delicious. I’d like to try emu.

Yeah, it’s human-sized bird similar to an ostrich. An emu egg is about 6” long and 9” in circumference. l wouldn’t mind trying some, too!

Well since ‘WE’ all HATE those big trucks, the obvious answer is it just appears there.

You know, like the toilet paper on the roll that mysteriously is always there -

The first big test of a ‘kid’ on his own for the first time. They find the paper don’t grow there and the milk fairy don’t restock the fridge ...

This one has me laughing! My wife hasn’t had to pay for having her nails done in years. Tommy Nguyen owns the nail salon she goes to and I keep him and his staff well supplied in 50 to 75 pound feral hog’s, usually give him one whitetail doe a year also. They prefer it over any store bought meats and frankly so do I. OK I’m not going to go that far, it’s hard to beat a good rib eye.

“Somewhere in the late 70’s the health department found cat fried rice being served as pork fried rice. I kept eating there as I doubted they would do it again.”

During that same time a friend of mine in Houston frequently bought homemade tamales from a vendor that drove every day around various construction sites. This had been going on for years. The vendor was finally busted for making his tamales from stray dogs and cats. All my friend could say was, “Oh well, they were the BEST damned tamales I ever had”.

So how does the meat in a grocery store get there?

They grow it in those little styrofoam trays.

I can not see why this is necessary - (kill the hog)

Considering that you are from Virginia (at least according to your homepage) you are obviously immune from and clueless of the feral hog problem that is plaguing Texas and the rest of the Midwestern states and spreading north, south, east and west. Somebody's got to kill them somewhere. As it is, this was a feral hog and it was appropriately put to rest and put in the pan...........

I believe you read the first line and decided to call me ‘clueless’ (HA HA...little bit of editing)

It should be more than obvious that the whole piece was dripping with sarcasm.
Good obit on your page

REPEAT

I can not see why this is necessary - (kill the hog)

Are they so dumb they don’t know all you have to do is go to the store and all kinds of meat are on the shelf.

No need to kill a hog, just go to the grocery store.

‘Ferrinners’.

I fondly remember the street vendors in Tijuana, Olangapo Philippines and other exotic areas of the Pacific...

Eating off the street corner carts was part of life and drink enough booze and nothing can survive anyhow - especially if you stick to the locally made hootch....

I can not honestly say ‘I have never eaten any of that _______________ -—as only the Lord knows what was in those concoctions...
