The entire month of May is International Respect for Chickens Month!

Please do an ACTION for chickens on or around May 4. Ideas include leafleting on a busy street corner, holding an office party or classroom celebration, writing a letter to the editor, doing a radio call-in.... (interrupted by my cackling and chortling)

kiss your chickens for me would ya?

and again, there’s the semi-cage-free chickens, who are in a coop with a small door into a larger enclosed field. they’ve never been known to want to go through the door, but the door is there.

if we could ask a chicken where it would want to be, i don’t know what it would tell us. it gets fed by these strange creatures and never gets hungry... that might be nirvana for a chicken.

His first attempt to get rich with KFC was raising three-legged chickens. But he couldn’t catch them.
So now he just has to win in the Octagon.

"kiss your chickens for me would ya?"

I warned by daughter against naming them - that's gonna' make it difficult for me to kill 'em once they stop laying.
Her and my wife treat them like pets for crying-out-loud. They're spoiling everything....

There are indeed ways to raise livestock without cruelty and very good for that.

Sad that so many PETA and ALF types make money shrilling about animal rights (and secretly enjoy meat) but are big supporters of Planned Parenthood—the moral irony could not be more extreme.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled humanely-raised chicken sandwich news ;^)

Kill two birds with one stone.

Eat Chick-fil-a chicken noodle soup...honor chickens AND noodles (help millennials feel good about themselves).

"There are indeed ways to raise livestock without cruelty and very good for that."

Temple Grandin, an animal husbandry professor at Colorado, invented a more humane slaughter house.
They all thought she was nuts, but turns out the companies that adopted her designs had much less "waste" than traditional slaughter houses.
More humane = better quality meat, cheaper.

I’ve heard of places that gas the chickens, so they die intact and not fighting. Is this such a place?

My wife (from Philly) sees an animal and thinks “Oh how cute!” While my first thought is “I wonder what it tastes like.”

We went to my parents’ house for dinner and as we pulled up I said we were having chicken. She asked how I knew. I pointed at the feathers in the yard.

Have you ever satisfied your curiosity vis a vis a cat or dog? (I’d think that weird to wonder what one of them would taste like. Now a cow or a chicken that’s another thing.)
