Eliot A. Cohen served in the Defense and State departments in the George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush administrations, respectively.
It's over. Donald Trump, a man utterly unfit for the position by temperament, values and policy preferences, will be the Republican nominee for president. He will run against Hillary Clinton, who is easily the lesser evil but is trailed by clouds of scandal and misconduct and whose party's left wing poses its own threats to liberties of speech, religion, enterprise and association.
It is time for a third candidate, and probably for a third party.

Okay I get it. If you’re a GOPe tool you probably wear a bow-tie.
“He will run against Hillary Clinton, who is easily the lesser evil but is trailed by clouds of scandal and misconduct.......”
Unh? What!? How is someone with clouds of scandal, and misconduct a lesser evil than Trump?
Won’t happen on the Left either. They know they’ll need all the ‘unity’ they can get.
Nitwit
A Rat Party operative who understands that three names on the ballot is the Former Twelfth Lady’s only chance?
Anyone who can say such with a straight face is assclown first class.
I’ll tell the GOPe the same thing they told me when they put up Romney and McCain and there was talk of a third party....”if you don’t like the party, change it from within.” Trump heads the party now, deal with it.
What a freakin’ idiot. He thinks we’re as stupid as he is. He’s wanting a third party to assure a Hillary win.
I am all for Bernie running as a third party candidate. That’s not what this slim-bag weasel is wanting.
hillary the lesser evil, eh?
well, that’s easy:
cohen = GLOBALIST SCUM
I agree! Go Bernie! ;-p
I should have been more clear; the left will fund a candidate that will pose as a center/right alternative to Trump. Of course they would never break up their own 47% if they can help it.
Too late to get on the ballot
No.
It will happen. 60% of the GOP did not vote for Trump, and he won mainly because of Kasich (and there are more than rumors that he has been supporting the Kasich campaign, which had NO popular support).
I didn’t like Cruz but I would have voted for him. Trump? The corrupt orange nutcase?
No way.
I’m not alone, and I think somebody will have to come up with another candidate, especially if Bernie is winning on the Dem side.
Trump and Bernie are virtually identical elderly nutcases, btw. The Dems had no good younger candidates, and the GOP did, but the media promoted Trump because he was always good for a “No, really?” moment, which of course is what the media loves. And Americans watching trash TV every day seem to believe this is the new normal.
Portrait of a Cuck.
Same here...
Seems like it...
Ah, more useful advice from the Washington Post. Obviously, they want the Republicans to win. [/s]
Levin suggested that, too.
It’s late for anyone new to throw their hat in now.
Libertarian is Gary Johnson who was governor of NM.
He got 1% in 2012.
Will GOP team with him?
He was a Republican til 2012.
